Thinking about trading my L2501 for a L2502

Thinking about trading in the l2501 for a L2502, anybody done it and have any regrets? I like most of the upgrades but not sure about the changes they made to the engine. Thanks

I’ve definitely considered it and would very much appreciate the upgrades/updates the L2502 has to offer.

That said, I’m extremely happy with my L2501.

I would rather have the new features of the L2502, but I believe there have been a few reports with the changes to the engine on here. I'm used to my L2501, so I don't think it would be worth the money lost to trade.

If I just wanted something different, I'd consider buying a new implement.

I'm kind of aligned here.

The L2502 has some more features, but they're not really game changers. For the money you'll spend turning an L2501 into an L2502, you could get a 3rd function and grapple, or a top and tilt kit, or an offset flail mower, or a tiller. Would you get more value from the move of the brake pedal to the other side than you would from a top and tilt?

What is it that you're looking for? If it's more about newer/shinier and money's not tight for you, that's fine, but maybe consider going to more HP while you're at it, or jump into a Grand-L?

I think that if I were going to sell my 2501, it would be for something with more lift capacity along with the added accouterments. However, the 2501 does me just fine. So I'd spend the money on upgrades like T&T or forks.
My neighbor has a 2502. It's a nice machine for sure.

I'm very happy with 2501 as well.

I could care less about the brake change. I have never really needed them, but most of the stuff I do is slow and on flat ground, so maybe the brakes would be a game changer for someone with different circumstances....I dunno.

Now an increase in lift capacity/height is an entirely different thing. I have run into many times that I have needed more lift.

But since the 2502 won't give me more lift, there is no point in swapping horses; Coupled with the fact that I "hate change" ; The new engine mods would give me "the willy's" .............I like "old and dependable" more than "new and innovative" .....

Now, I did sit on a M62 TLB a while back, and that was an impressive machine. So if I'm getting rid of my 2501 I'm "swinging for the fences" and getting one of those.

They moved it to the left side.
I would prefer the brake on the left. The HST doesn't hold the tractor at a stop on hills. Being able to 2 foot the pedals would be nice.

I have the 2502 but if I had the 2501, I seriously doubt I would spend the money to upgrade. Not having a clutch is nice and the brakes really need to be on the left like they are on the 2502, but I don't know if that change would be worth a few thousand to me. It does make it very simple to quickly set the parking brake! The suspension seat on the 2502 is very nice though, one of my favorite features. Working the electric PTO is a breeze, turn the knob and letter rip.

But if you are wanting a new machine and are like me and want no part of an emissions tractor, the 2502 is a great choice. I have had mine for over a year now and have worked the snot out of it doing things I probably shouldn't even think of, and have not had one single issue. There are times I think about the 3560 I almost bought but then I remind myself that I have no DPF, no electronics, no sensors telling my engine how to run or not run, and I don't need computers to work on it. It's all old skool and simple just how I like it.

Thanks for the replies, while looking into this, I am amazed that the L2501 and the L2502, share very few parts, Other than the engine, the L2502 shares most of its parts with the L3302 and L3902. The L2501 shares most of its parts with older L3200 and L3400. When the L2502 came out I heard it was just the outward changes. They now offer a larger tire upgrade too. Lots the think about.
