I got my L3800 in May and have 73 Hours on it as of today. I just want to share my experience so far. I bought a 5 foot rotary mower and have learned that 5 foot is plenty big in tall grass. I bought the R2060 and highly recommend it, well worth the extra money. I do recommend a 6 foot mower if you are just maintaining grass that you mow regularly, it would save a lot of time. The loader is just barely strong enough for what I use it for. It is sized right for the tractor though and helps keep people from exceeding what the tractor is capable of. The joystick loader control is a huge step up from my old AG tractor. If you want a tractor for property maintenance I highly recommend the Hydrostat, it is much more efficient than gear drive for mowing, loader work, etc. Tractor is very easy of fuel, right around a gallon an hour. This is a very "handy" machine and easy to use, even in tight spaces. Tractor handles much better with the loader off, so if you have a quick attach loader take advantage of it and take the loader off when you are not using it. I borrowed the neighbors Bush Hog 3 point tiller and now I can't wait to get one as soon as I save up a few bucks. All in all a great little machine, glad I finally got one.

Just curious - what do you use the loader for that it is just barely strong enough ?

Love the review - waiting on my new tractor - couple more weeks for me.

Good review, but I have a slightly different take on this tractor. I have gear drive and prefer it over HST, just personal preference. The loader on mine is stronger than I expected, not just barley strong enough. Best thing I did for loader works was add a substantial counter weight to the 3 pt, 600-800 works very well. I also take the whole FEL off when not needed, 5 minutes job. If you you like using the rig with just the bucket off, you will really like using it with the FEL off!!!

I do take the loader off, sorry if I wasn't clear about that. The load that nearly reaches the limit of the loader is 5X5 round bales lifted by strapping them to the bucket. I am sure that it would lift them fine with bale forks as they would be closer to the pivot point. My previous loader tractor was 125 HP and weighed around 16,000Lbs. so part of my view of the loader is undoubtedly skewed by coming from a much larger machine. The little Kubota is extremely capable. I have dug out 4-6" locust trees, skidded logs, moved dirt, run a 60" 3 point tiller, pulled fence posts, mowed pasture, etc. and the little Kubota has been great. I understand the preference for gear drive and for mowing large areas I can see where it would be better. I just admire the maneuverability of the Hydrostat when mowing in tight areas, doing loader work etc. where it eliminates shifting. A hydraulic shuttle gear drive would be the best of both worlds to me. The 2 best tools I ever bought to take care of my little place in the country are my Kawasaki Mule and My little Kubota. If anyone would like to know what I have learned about chainsaws in my 30 years of cutting firewood I would be glad to share that with anyone who asks. Thankful for all you here on the Forum, it was a great source of information when I was shopping for my tractor, loader and equipment.
