So true. I have the utmost respect for them. Bless them on this day (end everyday, frankly).

We will remember them. My predecessors in my regiment were "D-Day dodgers" in that day, clearing the way for the US Army to sweep into Rome.

Brother Skeets...

They were never taught "history" in high school.

I remember a local radio guy here in PHX reading the sum-total on WWII from the latest HS textbook. It was a page and a half, a third of which questioned the use of the atomic bomb to end the war.

A page and a half. YGBSM. And that passes today as "edjumication?"

We reap what we sew.

Ray, I know what you are saying, one grand daughter from Miss was here during a holiday break, and brought school books to do her assignments. One book was an American history book, and as you say the history we learned, bore little resemblance to the history that was in the book.
It seems the history was directed to more on how the people felt about what happened, than on facts.
In fact I found the first 10 amendments listed in the index, and guess which one was not listed. It was just a number 2 and nothing after that.

I fear "we the people", are going to be doomed to repeat history all over again. Unless "we the people", get our collective heads out of our "gluteus maximus " and take back the educational system to actually teach young people the facts, rather than indoctrinate them with a political agenda.

OK Im done I need more coffee

I guess we were expendable, when I came home I changed out of uniform to jeans and a t shirt in the airport restroom before I left the airport. Funny how no one wanted us around, and I surely didnt want to end up in a cell because some long hair thought it was ok to spit on me

I was in ROTC in '74. The war was behind us.

But, I remember a guy spitting on me as I was heading to Corps training one night. Hit my pea coat. I really felt sorry for the guy and his friends, who just laughed. If you reversed the roles, he'd be outraged. But, as a military student, I was fair game. More tolerance that is anything but.

I have coffee on the weekends with a NAVY Vietnam Vet. He felt like you Skeets. Only time has allowed him to put it to bed.

I spent a fare bit of time at the Veteran's office here and have seen first hand the pain some are going though and even though they are going this horrible pain themselves they are there day after day trying to help others. I don't care if your USA or Canadian I can not thank you enough for the sacrifice you've made so we can have the great life we live today. Thank you all, I for one will never forget.

It's foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God such men lived.
