There were two exciting "Snowboarding" races last night with the USA placing Gold and Gold in the Men's and Women's events.

Since I have never even been close to snow skis, some of that 70-80 mph downhill stuff is amazing to me. 😲

I used to be a pretty decent skier. But didn't have the technical fortitude to do half of what these athletes do.

I'm thinking that 'skeleton' event is either for the fool hardy or the brave, no SANE person would willingly go down FACE first, on an itty bitty sled, doing 80MPH !!

That would have been me in my 20's. But not now. I was an adrenaline junky into my early 30's.

I dont heal as quick, and the hurt hurts now 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

From what I have read and seen , the competitors have been pretty well abused by the chinese government. Along with reporters, and the TV and news media. I have never been much of a sports fan and these people are way beyond anything I could ever do. I do believe that they should be able to excel, however it seems at least to me, such was not the case this time around

Nick Baumgartner is from the teeny town my parents grew up in. My parents know his parents. Or at least they know OF each other - I mean, it's a small town, you know. It's pretty cool seeing him wakeboarding on the lake for practice.

Other than that... I'm a curler. I like to watch curling. I basically only do it on the youtubes, though.

Thought about you last month, local rink held an introduction to curling clinic. Sounded like everyone had a good time. Would like to have tried it out, but right now getting back up after bending over looms insurmountable on dry land much less ice. Was pleased to see Madison Hubbell do so well.

There's always stick curling, too. We just had a "give it a curl" event last weekend. There's always a spike in interest in curling about this time of year every 4 years... Curious... :D

I heard that there were about 10 people out of 150 that came through our event that were there to try the stick curling.
Hell, our skip (the guy that stands on the target telling us where to aim) is a stick curler. He's gotta be in his late 70s. Booming voice...

I know nothing about any of the Winter Sports and certainly have never actually seen any of them but I have enjoyed watching every night. Sadly tonight is the last night of competition so I wonder what I might watch next week.

Our Olympic Athletics have done very well and proudly represented the USA. I am also proud of our Canadian Athletics.

wife hates curling, loves the skating
I love curling, hate the skating
good thing we have 2 TVs now....
I really wish they'd show curling from behind the 'thrower',seems a long ways to hurl the rock..or whatever they call it.

Rock, stone, doesn't really matter. It's about 42lbs and a little shy of 150ft from hack (the starting block looking thing) to hack.
On the specially designed ice they use, it's surprisingly easy to get it all the way down there. That being said, it does take a lot of leg force to kick out. My club is on arena ice, meaning when we're not using it it's being skated on. We spend way too long every league night running the zamboni and preparing the ice to play. It takes some effort to get the stone down to the other end. My first time on dedicated ice I damn near threw the stone through the far wall.
