This morning I found a dead mouse floating in the toilet. I have no idea how it got there and I have not seen any mouse droppings anywhere in the house. I can't even understand how it could have climbed up the side of the toilet, and if it were to leap from the tub surround, it would have to be more like a flying mouse since that is about 20" away. A friend suggested that it might have come down the vent pipe, but that extends about 2 feet from the surface of the roof and if it did wind up in the vent pipe, wouldn't it fall straight down the pipe to the main drain?

N.Y,
There's never just one. Set some traps.

If you leave the lid up, maybe a cat or dog might drop it in there…I guess a really talented dog could lift the lid even if it was down for that matter.

Or an interesting choice of bait on the traps….I do wonder what you use for bait on the traps if they jump in bowl though. Seems like no harm no fowl and just flush em.

Weird for sure. They can scale unbelievable things. I'm betting he went in from the opening but couldn't get out due to the lip around the rim.

Have any asshole friends over recently? This seems like something I would do to mess with someone's head! :ROFLMAO:

Not a mouse, but we did have a bat in the toilet when we woke up one morning. Figured the only way was down the vent. But who knows for sure

I live alone since my wife was hurt in an accident 7 weeks ago and is in the hospital. No one has been in the home since that event. It might have freaked her out if she were home and saw it. She doesn't like mice or snakes. Living in the middle of the woods, we have both.

My place in the high country has a main stack vent line of 3" ABS, and it it 30+ feet tall.
Had a drain backup, so I went into the crawlspace to check the highest-upstream clean out.
It is tight under there, so my face was only about 6" from the clean out cap.
Pulled the cap; imagine my surprise to find a medium size bird sitting there staring at me.
It was long dead, (mummified?) and about the size of a small Robin.
I have no idea how he got there, he barely fit in the pipe just sitting there.
