The cost of getting old

I have numerous small jobs that I have been trying to hand over to contractors. No takers, my thought is that there has been way too much free money handed out.

Free money from where? That was years ago. Contractors are all booked up months in advance with big projects and it’s hard to find anyone to do small projects.

I stopped at local liquor store this morning for 2 boxes of wine; a Chardonnay and a Burgundy we keep on hand for cooking.

Really - just use the boxed wine for cooking…. Last quite a while.

Clerk is a nice lady my age I recognize but don’t know.

After she rang me up I jokingly pointed at the small 10% Senior Discount sign and said “I should have asked for the discount…..”.

Two “older” ladies behind me agreed….”heck, if you qualify why not…”

I honestly had no expectation that she would revise my order…been going there for decades. Good folks own the place.

The nice lady at the register says “oh, I already gave you the discount…. I kind of know who you are and know your wife…”

In good humor, I told all of them I’m not sure how I feel about that!!!…..

We had a good laugh as I was leaving!

My first senior discount. …I would have gladly paid the extra $5…..
