I have a tg1860g gas mower that ran fine in the fall and now will not start. I checked continuity of the seat switch and the neutral switch and both are good. I do not have spark at either plug. Is there a magnetic pickup on the Kawasaki engine or am I missing something. What would cause both coils to not fire? Engine cranks really well. I did not check pto switch, but engine will not crank when the pto is engaged. Any help or trouble shooting tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you replaced the spark plugs? Sometime you will not get spark if the tips are not gaped properly or if theres a ton of gunk at the end of the plug. If it looks black then its no good.

Ohh and the engine usually wont crank and fire up if the pto is engaged. Its a safety feature.

TG1860G has no spark

I also have a TG1860G that started to barely run after 30 minutes or so last Fall. Now it won't start at all and just like Kenbutts I checked the safety switches, plugs and coils - switches are good, plugs are great and there is 12V at the coils but no spark. I also assume it is the (very expensive) Igniter - where under all those shrouds is it located??? I hate to take everything apart only to find it is relatively easy to get at!

If you have 12V to the coil and you break the connection do you get a spark?
If not you have a bad coil. ;)

I just had the same problem. It is a very simple fix, at least mine was. It is a fuse that blown it is located near the battery. You will find 3 fuses its the middle fuse 10 amp. I orderd 2 new coil pack thinking that was the problem have not got them should be here friday now I have 2 coil packs I don't need. Mine runs great now,
