First welcome to OTT. Are you sure the cable is bad? On my L175 the driver coming off the motor was broken. You might want to pull off that unit and check it, the drive gear has a blade coming off that shears off when the gears lock up. This is one area most people never lube. After fixing mine I plan to take it off and lube it each year.

The first thing you can try is go to this link and enter your tractor's info, figure what section you need a diagram and part numbers for, and enter your email. They will send via email a complete parts diagram with all the part numbers. Once the part number is obtained, you can enter that on their site for availability and price.

Not sure about being compatible with other "L" series. Unless you have access to other model's cables, get a new one, less hassle.

Plus they're really not so expensive to not put on a correct cable if the drive is good. Also, lube that cable too!

I learned from a long time mechanic that grease was a better lube for spiral twisted drive cables. Since they will slide from the drive sheath easily, lube can be spread its entire length.

Just place a little high temp grease, like wheel bearing grease, in your hand the size of a quarter. Grasp the end of the twisted wire drive cable with your thumb and forefinger and pull the length through the grease with the other hand. Your thumb and finger remove excess globs. all your wanting to achieve is to fill the little space between the wires with grease. Its simple and about as quick as reading this. It does not need gobs and blobs because you should be serviceing these and the drive gear every 1 to 2 years anyway. Slip it back together and your golden.

Good Luck!
