I ordered a new tach cable for my B1600 as mine was broken. The new cable arrived today, part#67800-55410 (for B8200). In the bag along with the cable there is what looks like a small plastic washer/spacer. Where does the washer go?

Thanks

Vic, thanks for the reply and all of the valuable information. Here is a pic of the plastic piece, it is grooved on one side, so its cross-section would be the letter U. One note, I have a B1600 with a D950 engine. My engine seems to idle quite fast, any suggestions there?

Thanks again.

...It's common that the tach drive get gummed up with engine oil sludge and crap, removing it (4- 10mm bolts)...

It looks like I have this problem. I got a B8200HST a couple of weeks ago and tach and hour meter don't work.

I pried forward the instrument panel and saw that the tach cable was unattached on the tach end. I disconnected the engine end and verified that the cable works.

Also verified that the tach drive does not spin when the engine is running. Hopefully my tach is good because I definitely need a new or repaired tach drive.

Now for my question. Do I have to do anything before pulling the tach drive? Will I lose fluid or cause any other issue?
