I’ve got a 2018 model T2290 tractor mower which needs a pulley replacement on the drive belt. Pulleys already ordered. Are there any good tips to make this laborious job go a little easier ?

Take before pictures as you disassemble.
Get a Workshop Manual if possible.
Ask questions here if you get stuck.
I see you've already read the other post for doing this - good luck!

A decent impact wrench makes removing the steering column and engine drive pulley easy. Could be pretty difficult without an impact.

Thanks … I do need to buy a manual. Do you if there a decent one available?

I couldn't find a WSM for free, maybe someone on here has one.

I did find a WSM for a T2290KWT-AU HERE for $20 issued in 2021. I don't know what the AU stands for and if it matters or not. Again, hopefully someone with more knowledge than I can enlighten us before you spend the money.

Thank you …. I was wondering about that AU as well. I’ll do some checking around on that.

Finally got around to working on this machine a few days ago. Found the main culprit ... the rear mounted idler pulley seized a couple times and besides digging a deep groove in the pulley, it also ruined the main drive belt. So I am replacing all 3 pulleys and the belt. Took almost 4 hours to get everything apart. Also, totally not necessary to remove the electric clutch. Just remove a guide bracket, unplug the harness and the belt slips easily over the whole thing. Also included a picture of the other two pulleys on the clutch arm. That was a little tough to wrestle out and back in again (but is very doable) and seems the far easiest way to do those two pulleys.

Hi @Ron J , could you share some steps and tips on how to do this, any gotchas? my HST belt is making noise. How to remove the steering shaft? do I need a puller? do you have to remove the steering wheel? Also how to access the two pulleys on the idler? thanks.

I’m wondering how many hours on your tractor? Can you see the condition of your belt? If the belt still looks good, maybe just that single rear pulley needs replaced (#210 in the Messicks diagram). On my tractor the real problem was the rear pulley (attached to the frame). It went bad, seized at one point and badly damaged the belt. Had I caught that earlier the job would’ve been much easier, simple in fact, because no belt replacement would've been required.
Anyway, if you decide on all 3 pulleys and belt the steering column MUST come out. I used a 3/8 drive ratchet and IIRC a 12mm socket (seems like everything is 12mm or 14mm). Observe the nut, washer, and gear arrangement. Then just grab the steering wheel and pull straight up.
Now the fun starts. I placed a couple pieces of 2x4 under the front tires to raise the front 1 1/2", e-z enough to go higher if you need to. Closely observe the positions of the 2 little springs hooked to various levers underneath (pics strongly advised here). The Messicks diagram showing the "PTO Clutch Control Lever/Wire" is the best diagram to use for this job:
https://shop.kubotausa.com/oemparts/a/kub/609194ab87a86614f81b7866/d73002-pto-clutch-control-lever-wire?lid=6076df814f231b5030d5ac3d
Clamp down the clutch pedal to take the tension off the belt. Undo spring #190. See the long bolt #120 capped off by the nut #140. Unbolt that and the whole clutch arm assembly will come out. Observe the position of ALL washers and that spacer #190. You can easily change out pulleys #100 and #160 on your work bench.
Remove support #50 from the electric clutch and unplug the wire harness from same. Work the belt off by the old shimmy shammy method. You'll see one other obstacle as you remove the belt ... I had to remove a bolt or 2 on those linkages to work the belt around things. It will become self evident as you work.
Also, I used belt #K1035-26130-620 ... there appears to be 2 different belt numbers for this tractor. Mine is a 2018 K2290KWT.
AND strongly advise some decent work gloves (unless you like donating blood to your tractor).
So this is basically how I did it. Took probably 8+ hours total. You may find removing a thing or 2 as you go will help with seeing things or getting your hands into tight spaces. Good luck !
