Picked up a 9 year old t1760 with 18 hours on it. Figured it was a steal but can't get it to start. If I pour a little gas down the air intake she fires up and sounds good till it burns off. Obviously drained take and lines when I got it, changed fuel filter. The "pump" that is driven by the pin out of the motor works - pulled the line and she spewed gas everywhere when I tries to crank. Took carb apart and sprayed down with carb cleaner. Put back together and still nothing. What am I missing??

I don't know exactly how your machine is configured.
You say the pump spewed fuel when you removed the line.
Could the line be plugged or collapsed internally or even a hidden valve somewhere? Double check carb inlet for plugging, perhaps a plugged filter in line.
Sounds like you've got the problem narrowed down, just have to sort it out a bit more.

Should have clarified. If I keep the line on the pump inlet and pull the line off of the pump outlet that pumps into the carb and turn the key the pump blows fuel out so i know fuel is making it to the carb inlet. The inline fuel filter has already been changed. I'll tear apart the carb again and make sure the inlet is not clogged. If that's not it i have no idea what else to check.

Sounds like a blockage somewhere in the carb. That "sensor" is the fuel shut off solenoid. Start with the easy stuff before tearing into the carb by checking the solenoid. To check it, unplug the wires to it, unscrew the solenoid, plug the wires back in, ground the solenoid to the engine, turn the key to "on" and check to see if plunger retracts. If not, then the solenoid is pooched and needs to be replaced. You can bypass it by cutting the plunger off flush with the solenoid body if your in a bind and need to mow.
Agree to pursue solenoid first as may be simple solution to fuel flow problem.
When you 'bench test' it to the engine after removing it make certain you've got it solidly grounded back to battery negative terminal and don't throw any wiring sparks around fuel. You can do the same thing with a battery charger or vehicle battery away from fuel. My eyebrows grew back eventually.
Had an old '70's model Deere that failed its fuel solenoid and found the thing could be unscrewed into parts and removed the plunger that way. Most small engine solenoid plungers I've seen are about 5/16-in dia and chromed and for that reason would be difficult to cut off.
Caution if you try plugging solenoid hole in the carb: on that Deere the threads were "fine bolt" not "pipe" threads. If you get it wrong and ruin the threads you get to buy carb parts to stop the leak that will occur.

Guys. It was the solenoid. Unscrewed it and covered the hole with my finger. Cranked the engine and she fired right up!! Clipped the shaft off the solenoid and she runs like a champ.

If you ever happen to find yourself and the tractor laying on your side and you can't get your leg out from under the tractor and you see fuel dripping from the carburetor onto your leg and also see some electrical sparks near the carburetor, you will figure out why it is a good thing to have on small engines.

It's main purpose is to keep your fuel in the tank rather than in your crankcase or garage floor while mower is not being used.
Some engines will backfire right after turning off key switch with tip of valve has been clipped. This can result in damage to an expensive muffler.
t1760 has fast engine speed only
My T1760 will not idle on low speed. I see the lever control where it goes to choke but I don't see anything that allows the lever to control the engine speed. Thanks.
