Picked up an old JD model 80 planter from a guy yesterday. Modified the front from what he had to work with my cat 1 hitch. Looks like I'll be planting sweet corn this year.
Nice set up and plates are still available. Many guys around here find older 4 row planters for 500.00 to 1000 and make 2 or 1 row planters then sell them for double. I was lucky to get into a trading agreement to get my ih 2 row
Cant beat the price of these old planters! This one was free. Circa 1930s Cockshutt "Black Hawk" 4 row planter. It Essentially put the 2 boys through college with their 2.5 acre sweet corn patch....along with some elbow grease, arguing and a few fights in the middle of the field over the years! LOL!
