I'm having surgery this Friday to repair a hiatal hernia not looking forward to it but looking forward to getting it over with . Going to be laparoscopic using the DeVinchie robot recovery time is suppose to be much faster when the use this robot. I'm 61 and this is my first experience with surgery I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't a little nervous. Has anyone had surgery using the robot? My biggest concern was how long before I could go coyote hunting I have several hunts scheduled with a good buddy I don't want to miss. Dr says within 10 days staples will be removed , and I'll be on a liquid diet for 10 days then soft foods for 10 days no bread or steak for a month . Anyone been through this?

Before bragging about your hernia repair, look up what this guy will have. It is not nearly as simple as those done down near your privates from outside or in.

Good luck and wishing you a speedy recovery.

While I've had my fair share of surgeries, none have been with a robot (as far as I know).
Never anything major, just work on my left ear and one to remove a cyst in a finger.

Good luck on the surgery and hope you have a speedy recovery. I've been operated on a couple times, but way before they had robots to do the work.

About the only thing I can compare it too is tonsils. When mine were done, it was about 34 years ago. I was sick for 2 days afterwards, and the mother of all sore throats for about a week.

Grandson had his done 4 years ago. His recovery was a day  Then he was back to his ornery self getting into everything. Asking for hot wings and pizza :p

Sending you hopes you end up coming out better and badder than you were before.

Well all went well with my surgery the Dr said my hiatal hernia had let my entire stomach migrate above my diaphragm it was next to my left lung the reason for being short winded. I'm on a liquid diet for now 10 lb weight limitation so won't be doing many chores at the ranch. Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts.

Well by the grace of God I'm almost all healed up after my hiatal hernia surgery, the biggest problem is the Dr has me restricted to a 10 lb weight limitation that just about cuts out about 99% of everything I like to do. I have got caught up on my ammunition reloading and have been able to sight a couple new rifles in. Hopefully next week I'll get the clearance to go back to my normal schedule I've got fence to build, a shop to paint and a couple grading jobs waiting for me . Take care of yourselves fellas no fun being on the disabled list. ........Dan

Hire a couple high school kids and teach them as they do all the work for you. Make them think their just getting cash for the labor but you'll know the skills/mentoring? there getting will be worth more.

Coachgeo, ever been by a high school lately? They wont look up from their phones for less than a 100 dollar bill.the interested ones are few and far between.
I found one, good friend's son. He's like my apprentice. Have a chevy small block coming for him to rebuild. Hes gonna love it!!

Bcbull, glad you are in the mend. Dont push your limits until dr tells you is ok.
Last thing you want is them going back in to do warranty work....

I used to get great student help, always paid better than minimum wages for adults, but no more. They are too busy with lacrosse practice, this practice, that practice.

BC I second the don't push your limits sentiment. I had surgery twice, and did both times and there were inconvenient consequences. Once to ride the lawn mower to drag my arena, but the jiggling was not a good thing, and once to let my horses in, and the gate was frozen down and I lifted it. Musta been more than 10 lbs :eek:. It is best to stay inside so there are not too many temptations.

Hope you are up and back in the game soon!
