According to the website, they have near zero carbon monoxide output.
Yeah, I saw that..... Although "near Zero" is not Zero

But it does sound like they are pretty efficient and relatively safe.

Unlike torpedo-style forced air heaters, SunFire’s radiant technology delivers zero odor and near-zero carbon monoxide emissions, making them safe for indoor use. All models are proudly Made in USA in Janesville, Wisconsin with commercial-grade components built to last.

Picked up the SF80 at the Depot this morn.
Pretty much ready to go out of the box.... fill it with fuel / hit the electric prime button.... Turn it on

And it fired right up.
I expected a slight smell because its new.... but nothing.
It's not silent, but it's not loud either..... not really an issue.

It throws off some HELLA-HEAT !!!

I have plastic floor tiles in the garage and I could see them getting warm and flexing a bit.
I have 4x4 piece of cement board I'm gonna place on top of a few bricks to protect the floor.

I think this is gonna work out nicely when that New England freeze comes...

Comes with a wire harness to use an analog thermostat.... nice feature.

Be very careful where you point that thing. If it gets too close to plastic things (e.g. a bumper cover) they will develop sags and wrinkles.

I am a little late to the party. I have a friend that runs a dirt moving business and they have used the Val6 and Sunfire heaters for years in there 80X120X16 foot shop for heat in the winter. They do have in floor heat but they open the doors a lot and the diesel fired heaters really help out. In his old shop there were the only heat he had. He has very little trouble with them.

A little drama with this heater this morning.....

This morning I flip the switch to turn it on and nothing....
Then notice the lockout (red light) is on.... WTF!
reset it and get the same thing.

ok, pull the cover... start snooping around.... nothing obvious.
so grab the manual.. troubleshoot page ... not really a help.

So I call Tech support....
The guy was pretty good and walked me through a few tests with the phone pressed up against my ear and shoulder... multi-meter in my hands and holding a flashlight with my teeth...

Long story short, One of the wires for the DC electric fan was improperly installed.
after fixing that, The heater fired right up and ran great again.

As far as the wire.... Whoever assembled it put the little wire in on the RIGHT side of the screw on the terminal board..... so when they tightened it.... it forced most of it out to the right.... Damn wire was only connected by 1 copper strand.

The assembler was probably a DEI hire....:ROFLMAO:

Anyway.... We got heat again.
actually had to shut it down after a 1/2 hour... this think Kicks AZZ

NO,

I'm sure this will add confusion....

But NO.

I run #2 home heating oil.
and like Hokie, I run the same in my tractor ... from the same tank.

Hmmm.... in my humble opinion stranded wire has to be used with a cage clamp or otherwise a ferrule should be crimped over it. I would call that design flaw, not assembly error.

It WAS assembly error. The wire was wrapped around the screw .... and on the right side To Boot

It SHOULD have been inserted from the left... UNDER the plate.
as in this picture....

you can purchase direct from the manufacturer or home depot /lowes etc.
they are everywhere.
I think he might have meant to type "odor".

@LBZ if that is what you're asking, if ran long enough, you'll start smelling something. It isn't a strong smell. You'll likely start getting a headache before the smell gets to you.

Yes, you are right, in this case it was an assembly error, I stand corrected.

At first I didn't notice any smell at all.
But after running it for a while I will say it is not completely odor or fume free...

It doesn't bother me but it's there.
I keep a window cracked... and also a pedestal fan going /pointed above the heater.
It puts out a ton of heat so the fan helps to disperse it.

As far as odor, I think you would be hard pressed to find a diesel burning heater that didn't put out some kind of smell.... Albeit faint...

Thanks. Yes I did mean odor. Sorry for the confusion and the spelling error. Thanks again.
