So am I to understand that I have to cut into the solid Power beyond line on my tractor and plug the P port into the line coming straight from my pump and then connect the T line back into that same power beyond line to then continue into the loader control valves. This is a summit hydraulics 3rd function valve and I have emailed them twice in the last 3 days and all I'm hearing back from them is crickets. Any help would be nice. Its a Kubota L3240 HSTC and I can't find hardly anything online about my tractor. So again I'm running from the pump to P then out of T then onto the loader valves? if I'm wrong here please correct me. I dont want to blow up my hydraulic pump here.
Thanks

You are confused. The standard order is: Pump --> Loader --> 3rd function --> 3 point lift

On an L3240 you disconnect the loader power beyond pipe (#10 below) and toss it.

You them use the hose and banjo adapter provided in the Summit kit to connect the power beyond port on the loader valve to P port on 3rd function.

Then you use the other hose and banjo adapter in the kit to connect the T port on third function to power beyond port on tractor.

EZ- PZ except all of that is up under your cab o_O

That sounds a whole lot easier then the screwy directions the local Kubota dealer was telling me. He told me since I didn’t buy OEM I most likely was going to blow my hydraulic pump. That’s when I realized he didn’t know what he was talking about. Thank you so much for the help. I’ll get her done this weekend for sure now.

And your install will be cleaner than you could pay someone to do it for you. I’m sure of it. Take your time, route the lines so they don’t rub anything. Use the OEM sheath if you can and a few zip ties. Modify the mounting brackets if needed to exactly fit your OEM mounting points. It will come out good.

BTW, nice Grand L you have there with the 40 series.

I remember when my 3rd function kit came in the box was 5' long, 20" wide and 20" tall (from Kubota). I got home opened the box, read the instructions, called the dealer and made an appointment to have them install it. I saw where the right rear tire comes off to get to the connections (on a 40 series tractor) and all the "mess" under there..... no thanks.

Let me add I am not affilisted with Summit or Kubota and I have never installed any 3rd function on an L40. The information above is a basic description of the circuit and accurate to the best of my knowledge but you should confirm the detsils with Summit. They know exactly whats in their kit.

Daniel, we are more than happy to help with what we can but we have not done any R&D on that machine and wouldn't be able to tell you exactly which ports to use. Theoldhokie explained it perfectly though.

If you still need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at contact@summit-hydraulics.com or call us at 602-806-7173 Mon-Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm and Fridays from 8am to 12pm.

Daniel, here's some pictures of the installation of the Kubota kit. It is steel lines. If I remember correctly there was a loss of 3-4 quarts of hyd fluid.

Based on Summit's response they do not make a 3rd function kit for the L3240. Exactly which kit did you buy from them?

Construction Third Function Kit for Kubota L39 Tractors
Like I said I am not afilliated with Summit but looking at rhe pictures that is not going to work right out of the box.

Assuming you can get the valve mounted, front couplers installed and plumbed, and the joystick handle installed and wired using the bits in rhe kit all that remains is tapping into the loader power beyond.

Thats goung to require a couple banjo adapters and two new hoses. You will need to determin the size of the two OEM banjo bolts on the power beyind pipe. They are almost certainly going to be BSPP and may be different sizes. Once you determinne the sizes you need I can point you to a source for the fittings and new bolts if needed. From there its just a matter of two hoses to connect the hydraulic ports on the tractor to Summit's valve.

A good challenge. If this stuff was easy, anyone could do it.

I got lucky and had a couple hose connections for the banjo bolts from the BH92 backhoe I bought for it several years ago. As far as mounting it I bolted it down by the front tire on the backhoes sub frame and I'm going to fab a metal shield for it so crap doesn't get thrown all over it by the tire. Everything seems to be working correctly. The switch mounted onto the hydraulic lever perfectly so that was a breeze. I do wish I had gotten just a few more hydraulic connectors and another 2 sets of quick connectors with the kit. I put in 2 more quick connects so when i switch to my snow blower for the winter months I could just unplug the lines running to the front.
Thanks again for all your help. Ill try to snap a few pics later today and post them here.
