Hello everyone. We're just about finished building our house on our family farm. My dad gave me 2 acres in the middle of the farm to build on. He's got another 88 acres then my grandmother has another 40 acres connected to it. This is where I grew up. Can't wait to get moved out there.

The two acres I have used to be used for cattle. So between the cattle and the concrete trucks and other construction equipment the yard isn't very smooth.

What's the best way to smooth it out?

Tiller? Start over by tilling it and reseeding?
Land plane? Get some topsoil and spread across it?
Harley rake?
All of the above? Something else?

Thanks!!

I think you posted the answers to the question in your original post, if you add some pictures and give a better description of your intended end result, you will probably get some worthy replies.

Spring tooth harrow or tiller or disk to break it up and a land plane to smooth it out. ;)

A few years ago my kids bought a place with the same problem. I used a 5' double disc worked it a few times then tilled it then harrowed it a lot, the day before it snowed I seeded it with a broad cast seeder then used a packer on it. Don't forget to use fertilizer as well, the results were great and i didn't use one drop of water on it.

What do you mean by "packer"? Are you talking about a roller that you pull behind a tractor or something?

Just have a family member come in there and work the ground like you're planting beans. Break up the ground now and smooth it to suit you now, because later it will be much more difficult and time consuming.

If I wanted to turn it into nice lawn grass, I would shallow till it followed with a harrow. Then seed it and cultipack or lightly roll it in late fall.
