I was snow blowing and back blading around my driveway last week when the tone of the machine deepened. It stayed that way for maybe 20 minutes, until I finished working. Oil was full. In neutral it went away. I believe it was engine/exhaust related. The tractor was warmed up when the tone changed. Any ideas?

You may very well have gotten your air filter damp or restricted by snow or frost.

Check air inlet for obstructions; snowplowing sometimes introduces snow buildup on the air filter.
