Hi guys I just purchased a RTV900 for cheap and the thing was sitting for about two years or so. The spark arrestor was plugged right off the bat and kept it from starting. After I removed the arrestor she fired up and ran great! Now there is white smoke pouring from the breather and drops of oil. The engine fires up and runs great with no smoke at all coming from the exhaust. Could this be as simple as a stuck oil ring from sitting or something far more serious.......Worn rings?

Compression test. Leak down test. cant speculate without a couple tests. A can of sea foam,in oil and fuel to clean up any buildup may help.

How would a compression test tell me if it's worn rings vs stuck rings?
It won't but it gives us more information to go by. There is not really not even enough information to "assume" the issue is primarily rings if at all.

Sounds good I will do a compression test and let you guys know what I find. What is considered acceptable for compression?

You've got compression gases getting past the rings, and coming out of the breather. You already know that the head's likely going to have to come off to find out if the cylinders are damaged. Just pull the head. It's not all that hard. Once off, if the cylinders are worn and/or scratched, it's bore & hone time. If not, could be broken piston, stuck rings, whatever. They can be pulled with the engine still in the chassis.
