Thx Dustball . The diagram showed the spring that I was unaware of. The tractor end (black collar) was rotating to the right to release, but was not springing back to lock. The mower end (red collar) was originally frozen and would not rotate. It's been soaking in pen oil for about two days now. I had earlier got the collar to rotate but no spring back. But after seeing the spring I worked the collar over real good and finally got it to spring back to Right to lock. So to release it rotates opposite of the black one. Maybe why its red?
So that takes care of that issue, but its still stuck solid!

Best penetrating oil you can buy is "Kroil"
Keep spraying it, ......one or twice each day for several weeks.
Tapping collar firmly,... each time.
