No issue here. Plenty of game in the deep freeze and beef too. Just butchered one last month.

I thought it was gonna be a reloading-ammo thread. I'm good on that as well though nothing in the freezer....lol

Lets just say I have 50 cal ammo cans loaded and a whole powder room full of components. How about a 15 foot long shelf, stuffed with powder, primers and boolets.

We've also stashed some mac and cheese, canned goods, etc. for good measure over the last few months. Plenty of dog, cat, horse, cattle feed, fuel as well. This country will come unglued.... but quicker if our grid system is interrupted.

Between the bear, the deer and our usual 1/2 side. We are stuffed to the gills.
Bear!.. guess we’re not neighbors.. nothing like that around here. Sounds like you’d be the neighbor to have though! I probably better get out to the market!

I had an order placed for a quarter of beef last summer from someone I’ve gotten some before. He’d said it would be ready in November, and I’d reminded him the last time I saw him. He delivers feed from the elevator I’ve dealt with for 40 years. Well it is now December, no word from Ryan, so I sent a text today to remind him, he replied saying he was all sold out, wouldn’t have any more steers till next December. That he had a little hamburger if I wanted it. No mention of “sorry I forgot your order, etc.”. I am ticked. No mention of price is ever discussed, I pay whatever he asks, so it can’t be a matter of so and so was willing to pay more.

Mary, you may want to go to the grocery store and stock up on what you need. If I may make a suggestion; maybe you can make a trade with some other local farmer. Maybe some mutton for some beef?

Around here, one can go to the processor and usually buy various cuts of meat. They usually have someone who hasn't gotten a quarter spoken for and the processor buys and sells. They know the farmer and will always tell what farm it came from, if interested.

Yes I’ll ask around. It is mainly a matter of getting nice lean beef preferably not stuffed full of hormones and antibiotics. The processor I used to take my lambs to is inspected and sells retail. I have gotten beef from them in the past, it is kind of patchy as to quality.

I know most of the processers around here or I should say I did, Seems most have been bought out, or closed, and their prices are nuts! And really the meat is no better that the markets, but the yuppies and millennials think they are getting top shelf stuff. My problem is cooking for one, I found stuff in the freezer from early last year, I know cause I date things I put in the freezer. Granted I vacuum pack most things but still over a year old kinda changes the flavor a bit
