Hello, My tractor engine poops out after a few minutes. Here are the things I have done in the last few weeks to address the issue. Replaced the thermostat, water pump, removed and power washed radiator. replaced fuel filter and fuel pump. Bled fuel line. The fuel was "mostly" replaced with new run thru a 'magic funnel' . The hours on the machine are unknown. It had run fine during the previous 3 years of my ownership. I am not a mechanic. I also replaced the air filter.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Did it start doing this after your replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump?

Can you tell us more details if its pooping out? Does it slowly die off or does all at once? What's the air cleaner look like?

Opps.. re read it and you did all this because it was shutting off.. could be a shut off solenoid is not holding after it warms up

How long does it run before it shuts off?

At first I think it was running hot and slowly lost power after about 10 minutes. Thats what led initially to thermostat related efforts. Now it runs for about 5 minutes slows as if fuel starved and stops. When it starts after having set for an hour it runs ok for 5 minutes but never seems to obtain full power. The air filter had been filthy. I replaced it. I am not sure where one issue stops and another begins with this problem. I was using my hillbilly poorboy instincts in an attempt to save a buck. I had 2 hydraulic lines replaced professionally 2 months ago. Cost $1,000 with delivery and all. It has not run right since. Thanks

You description makes it sound like you have a restriction in the fuel line. Maybe some grass, leaves or a piece of rag in the tank gets jostled around and restricts the fuel coming out. Might take the fuel line off where it comes into the filter and see how fuel flows. If it's slow you have to work you way to the tank outlet.

You could remove the fuel cap and blow into the fuel line that you removed at the filter and determine if there is a restriction.

The clear fuel filter before the fuel pump appears full during its dying phase. I have also blown into the tank with my mouth while engine is in dying phase in an attempt to further diagnose the problem. No luck.

If you're blowing INTO the tank when the engine is running and beginning it's dying phase, you may just be pushing whatever is restricting the flow into the plugged area. You need to remove the fuel line and blow into the tank from that line to push the obstruction back into the tank..

I have been outside tinkering with it and following your advice.I blew into the line from the filter . I also noticed I had installed the fuel filter backwards. Hey, I said I wasn't a mechanic! It seems to be running fine at the moment. there must have been an obstruction in the fuel line. All good for now. If the issue reoccurs I will wrestle the tank out for a more thorough fix. I really appreciate your help!

Good news. Might get some algaecide to put in the tank as a preventive measure. Doesn't take much, you can get it at NAPA or other auto parts store. Yep, it keeps algae from growing in the fuel.
