From under steering wheel have had it out twice three years ago rtv'ed and it seemed to keep it from leaking until last fall. When I cleaned it up and RTV'ed it again but is not holding.
Talked with part manufacture and will not deal with me.
Price through dealer is 900 $$$$
Does any one know how or where to get rebuild parts? As the unit works but is leaking out the top shaft seal.
Also if I can get it apart how to measure for the seal, then find the correct type seal and from where.
900 bucks is way to much.
Seal kit 40 maybe.........
If it did not leak so bad this time, i'd keep dumping oil in it.
Tractor salvage yard??
Thanks for any advice or direction John in TN.

Well first of all we need to know what tractor you're working on so we can point you in the right direction for parts!

That helps. There are folks with multiple tractors, or they are working on something other than what they have listed. It pays to be specific.
You could check with West Kentucky Tractor Parts, or Messicks.
And, welcome to OTT!

Have you talked to an independent hydraulic repair shop about if a rebuild is possible?

I'm having the same problem with my B 20, dealer quoted me 1,941.00 for a new steering unit.
Holy Freaking Stealerships....run as fast as you can or is that the Installed price? If so it sounds about right for a " stealership"
900.. for part at witch they make 200 on part!!!!
900..automatic doubling for install ( I could do it in 3 hrs with my tools)
So 900~3= 300$ an hour, Were you live, I'll drive there and Install It :)
141 for Uncle Sam (tax).
This is why I am looking for parts actually 1 seal on the upper shaft is all I need.
I guess I'll try and find a hydralic fix it place near here, and see what they have to offer.
Screw Kubota on a 250 part they get inflate.

I bet if you can get the seal out, a hydraulic or industrial shop can match it.

As mentioned, most hydraulic shops can deal with this issue. If its just a shaft seal leaking and case isnt pressurizing than any shop that deals with federal mogul or chicago rawhide can identify the seal. Done it many times.
