STB0560 or STB1060?

Decided I want to get a front snow blade for next winter, so I'm starting my research now. We're in northeast Ohio and the winters vary. Most of the time our storms only drop 2-6" at a time, but every now and then we'll get a freak snowstorm with 20"-24".

I'm running a B2601 and both the STB0560 or the STB1060 are compatible. It looks like the 10 has a taller moldboard (14" vs 22"), a little more left/right angle (30 deg vs. 24 deg.), and about 50# heavier.

I'm inclined to go for the STB1060 for the above mentioned reasons but wanted to see what everyone else thought.

Anyone with a B2601 hate their STB1060 and wish they got the STB0560? Or vice versa?

Anyone think the STB1060 will be "too much" for my little compact?

It doesn't look like the blade can be floated with only its own weight. The FEL can be put in the float position, but the weight of the FEL frame etc. is bearing down on the cutting edge. If there's any concern about driveway damage (or scraping gravel away) that would be a negative.

If the choice is between these two, why not get the taller moldboard and the few extra degrees of swing?

I looked at a 360° product image of the SBT1060 and it sure looks like the mounting is solid to a QA plate with no means of having it hinge to move up and down.

Yes - typically heavy snow, good point on the usefulness of the extra height.

I'm not sure I follow? It does have a trip spring in case you catch a curb edge. There are two bolts on the back that can switch you from a fixed "dozer blade" mode to a "trip" mode.

Trip isn't float. The picture shows structure that can rotate left and right in relation to the QA plate. It doesn't look like the blade can move up and down independent of the QA plate.

Blades that float are usually suspended with chains.

I run the STB-1060 with single hydraulic servo (3rd function) for side to side control on a LX2610 cab model. The blade is poly vice steel. My driveway is asphalt and the parking area is concrete. The only ballast I ran was fluid in the rear tires. I added the rubber curtain on the top to limit spill over and the side post markers as options.

Just the person I'm looking for! So my B2601 would have a little less lift capacity, same HP, and a little less low end torque. Any frustrations, regrets, etc? Or happy camper? Do you think my slightly smaller rig will be able to handle the 1060 in deep snow (12"+)? I don't run fluid in the tires but I do have wheel weights and a ballast box available if I need to add some weight.

It keeps me from firing up my Ariens snowblower and freezing so I’m a happy camper. The only thing to keep in mind if using a poly blade is the corners may bend slightly. You can see it in the front picture. The blade still performs the same. No regrets there either. I plow in 2wd in low gear and I get to work at about the 4” mark with R14 tires. I save 4wd in case I drift off the hard surfaces and get stuck. Your tractor should be fine if you tackle it early on and use the angle to your advantage. I would recommend getting the 3rd function so you can adjust your angles on the go vice manually doing it.

Great info, thanks. Yeah, I have a third function (I do a lot of grapple work) and the idea of being able to change the angle from the operator seat is really what's driving this. Well, that and not having to plow in reverse.
