I posted a problem I was having with my BX25D a couple weeks ago. Ended up I had a busted stud on the stay valve that controlled the raising and lowering of the bucket. I ordered the parts form one of the very reputable Kubota parts dealers. Got the stay valve today and when I opened the box, I saw that it was an oem Kubota part made in China. I guess that's where we are at today. First thing I noticed was one of the brackets for the lower stud was not fully welded. Strike one. Then I went to put it on and some of the holes were off. I took the caliper out and some of them were off by 10mm. Long story short, the stay valve will not fit. It's the correct part, just a piss poor job of quality control by the Chinese.

I've decided to repair the original stay valve. What happened is the lower stud snapped off. These were bolts that go through the bracket and then they just weld the head to the bracket. All I have to do is grind the head off the welded bolt of as it snapped of right below the head and I doubt I will even need to drill any of it out. It looks like I can just get the correct size and length bolt and weld it in and I should be set.

The question I have is if anyone knows, what type of steel were these studs made of? I'm assuming it's stainless but does anyone know what grade stainless. I know it can make a difference welding stainless and you want to get the stud as compatible to the stainless bracket so that you can choose the correct rod and get a good weld. Any input would be most appreciated.

Very few tractor parts are made in stainless, so I would be very surprised if your parts are stainless.

First - it is a "stay" (aka BRACKET) for the valve. It is not a valve.

If the holes are that far off you received the wrong part.
