I’m in need of operating my PTO outside of the cab. I’ve tilted the seat all the way forward, put the tractor in neutral, put the parking brake on yet the engine stalls when I activate the PTO. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Stationary PTO not working

I need to operate my PTO from outside the cab for my logging winch. I have raised the seat back, put the tractor in neutral and put on the parking brake. The engine stills stalls when I activate the PTO. ANY SUGGESTIONS? My tractor is an L3560.

With the non-air ride seat it should operate as you are doing.

Try sitting in the seat while activating the pto, then raise the seat immediately after getting out of the seat. That's how I run my pto generator, but the seat has to be tilted forward quickly.

Re: Stationary PTO not working

Try engaging the PTO first and then lift the seat. Be somewhat quick getting out and lifting the seat.

The lazy mans fix, place a bag of feed on the seat. Or you could defeat the safety switch by using a wire tie to keep it closed.

What I was going to say, defeat the OPC and be done with it but I don't want to get hollered at.

Neither of mine have that. The do alarm when I get out of the seat with the PTO on, but that is it. Designed to operate without an operator in the seat.

Do they really alarm? Neither of my M9000's have ever done that. Didn't even know they had a alarm. I get out of mine all the time with the pto engaged.

Sure do, both of them. The 'alarm' on the OS is under the right side, between the fender and the inner tin, below the PTO lever and on the cab model, it's under the dash, above the pedals. If you look at the WSM, it will show on the wiring schematic. Kubota calls it a 'warning whistle'.

In our case, because they are primarily AG tractors, the no operator is necessary. Not so much on the smaller units.

No sucha-thang on mine either. Just a PTO warning lamp on the “EasyChecker”.

I have that as well, and the 'Whistle too.

On page 43 of the owners manuals for both my cab and open station M9's it says:

Note:

There is a PTO-1 (540 rpm) indicated mark on the tachometer board (gotta love the Japanese terms...lol)

Tractor engine will not start if the PTO clutch control lever is the engaged 'On' position.

If the PTO system is engaged and you stand up from the seat, the warning buzzer will 'whistle' for about 10 seconds after standing up.
This is because the tractor is equipped with an operator presence control

How it reads in both manuals and in the WSM as well.

Maybe not on yours George but in Bulldog's it should work as he has an M identical to mine.

In reality, I kind of wish it didn't. I find it irritating at times.

A-Ha! (No seat-switch on mine, but the same comments on the 540 mark and no-start.)

I don't have one on either unit but the 'whistle' still sounds because it's interfaced with the PTO lever electrically.

The Grammer in my cab unit has no provision for the OPC and I replaced the seat (with the one that D2Cat turned me on to from Rural King and it has the cutout for the OPC but the tractor never had the in the first place.

In both of mine, the 'whistle' or buzzer or whatever it's called is wired is series with the PTO lever, but then keep in mind that both of mine are 'older' as in 2002 and 2004 units.

I'm going to search for my whistle. If it does have one it has never worked. I get out of mine all the time with pto running especially when baling and have never heard anything. Honestly I'm glad it doesn't have that because it would drive me crazy.

If you have a Limited Edition L3560, it doesn't have the switch to allow for stationary PTO. That's one of the things Kubota took away from the LE's.
