Last time I checked I live in a country with a capitalist economy based on the free market system. Innovation and automation are part of the system.
Innovation and automation have a marked negative effect on employment/unemployment, and unemployment is a bad thing in a capitalistic economy.

Too many people trying to make a career out of an entry level, low skill job. Im glad they automate and innovate. It may just eliminate low skill jobs but creates higher skill jobs, which bring more pay.

I buy most everything on Amazon if i can help it. About 20K in 2022. Talk about automated.
Local grocery store we do curbside pickup and pay an extra whopping $4 to avoid standing in lines fighting through isles and waiting for a cashier to ring stuff up.

Its 2023 embrace it, its not going away.

around here with unemployment so low stores can't find enough people to work so many have no choice but to self checkout.

I see some are also closing washrooms as no one to clean, etc... My local ACE hardware has closed their public washrooms and one restaurant has you wiping down your own table and getting your own water / coffee / pop before person comes to take your food order. :(

Some restaurents are getting filthy with crappy service as some are also posting signs on their doors apologizing in advance as they cann't find people to work.

I suppose you also refuse to pump your own gas when refueling your vehicles? Same logic applies there...
If "service stations" still had that service, your darn right I would use it. But, a long time ago, it started with one station deciding to make extra money by NOT employing a service person. Years later, here we are, no service at service stations.

Or they decided to SAVE some money by eliminating an un-needed position. Maybe they took that saved money and invested it back into the business. Gas stations are in business to sell gas, and other things...NOT to employ people. In fact no private business is in business to employ people.

Not sure where that came from.
Facisim......guarantees everyone a job?
Huh?
There seemed to be comments in this thread which promotes the idea that we should employ more people to keep everyone employed. Then you pointed out that in a “capitalist” economy unemployment was a bad thing (and I agree with you.)…but I didn’t see that as being bad Only in a capitalist economy…. and that full-employment can also be a “bad thing”… because If you don’t have a job…a fascist system would give you one whether you liked it or not.

If the use of a self-checkout system is a uniquely capitalist ailment…. then so is low wages with few or no benefits…. predominately capitalist. A socialist system would apply equal pay and benefits to Everyone…yet I doubt many here would endorse that.
