Starting issues

I have 2012 L3200 with only 95 hours. Having starting issues. The only way I can get it to start is b pumping the brake pedal rapidly 10 - 20 times before turning key to start position. If I follow the normal starting procedure the engine doesnt turn over. The only way it will turn over is if I rapidly press the brake pedal before or while I turn the key. Sometimes if I dont press the pedal enough the starter clicks but doesnt turn engine over.
The seat switch makes the clicking sound when the key is on and i get on and off the seat. So I doubt its that.
It seems wierd that doing the brake thing is the only way it will start being there is no brake switch im aware of.
Hopefully someone out there has seen this or can give me an explanation so im not guessing what part needs to be replaced.

I think you need to check your battery cables and connections, both ends of both cables.

If what Wolfman said doesn't work start going thru the safety switches one at a time. It's probably something simple and the brakes shouldn't have anything to do with it.

You kicking the pedal - shakes the entire machine, and like NIW said, the cables are loose somewhere - I would imagine you jumping up and down would give the same effect. YOU could have a seat/pto switch that is very close - you shaking the machine while in the seat is causing just enough to start.

check all wiring, then check again.

Why were you pumping the brakes to get it to start in the first place? Does the phase of the moon have anything to do with the number of times you have to pump the brakes?

I ran a jumper wire from battery to starter and it cranks right up when i turn the key on. It has to be one of the safety switches. Im gonna rule out the clutch switch. The seat switch causes a clicking sound at the injection pump solenoid when i move the lever up and down. I did notice a couple of times it did not click when i operated the lever. When i start it up with the jumper then move the seat switch up the engine stops like its supposed to. I think ill replace the seat switch first. Because like the post above says it probably something simple. Thanks for the help fellas

Going at it blindly and just replacing parts is a sad and costly way to approach the issue!

First I'm sending you a link to download the WSM, go to section 9 and start there.

There is only 5 pieces of the puzzle that could be causing your issue.
#1: Battery connections or any other starter circuit connections.
#2: Bad main switch
#3: Bad starter relay
#4: Bad or maladjusted Range Gear Shift switch (neutral)
#5: Bad or maladjusted PTO switch (neutral)

If you notice the seat switch and the Non existent clutch switch (you don't have one) are not on that list because they don't matter!

Get on the tractor, sit down, turn the key to the crank position hold, move the gear selector around making sure it's hitting neutral and that switch is not hanging up, if it starts there's your problem, if it doesn't, while doing the same move the PTO ON an OFF several times, if it starts there is your issue, if neither works, start finding the parts and do the tests as the manual tells you how to do them.

That one happened to me. I adjusted the switch and haven't had any problems since.

I also had a stuck PTO cable/mechanism one time. After a little lube it has worked fine.

Had a Dodge D50 when growing up, sometimes you had to jump up and down in the seat to get the starter to engage. Finally had an electrical shop figure it out, ground wire to the frame! Electrical issues suck. Good luck.

Poll says loose nut, behind wheel. My view is that when you are jumping up and down, flailing about in the seat, you are intermitently opening and closing switch. Adjust seat switch as per manual, is my guess...
