My 7200 started after the winter hibernation as it always has. After running for the initial hour I shut it down. When I came back an hour later it wouldn’t start. Turns over ok. Any advice on a troubleshooting check list? I’m typically ok troublshooting gas engines; but, no experience with diesel.

Fuel level.
Check fuel filter.
Check fuses.

Start there, the rest is a little more invasive. ;)

Suspect a fuel delivery issue if the engine started easily and ran after a winter's disuse.
Rubber parts can deteriorate and leak air into the system.

You may want to perform an "injector bleed" .

But make sure the fuel cut off control rod is not hung up somehow. That goes for the valve lift decompressor as well. (If fitted, check the rocker cover at the firewall for the actuator lever.

I'm not sure what "fuse" could be an issue on a 7200, there are only two, located on the near side above and to the rear of the starter motor.

Add to the list checking for power at the glow plugs. Could be a bad connection or contact that worked once then vibrated loose or burned out on the second attempt.

an old shrimp boat captain once told me: "If a diesel engine won't run, it's a fuel problem."

He has been right many more times than wrong. Barring a rod sticking out of the block or a dirt dauber clogging up the air intake, that is just about all that can go wrong.

Always check the obvious first - fuel quantity, fuel delivery etc.
