I agree with stop feeding them, but I urge people to think it over prior to using mouse and rat poison. I have recently learned from wildlife officials that the poison is killing many species of wildlife, including owls, hawks and many others, even including domestic cats. It's called rodenticide poisoning.

What happens is the mice or rats consume the poison and they live for several more days, but they are sick and move slower, so they are much more vulnerable to attack by wildlife, etc. Then the wildlife consumes the poisoned mouse and then it suffers a certain slow death. Please consider other methods of killing these rodents. Thanks!

That is from people using strychnine baits. I use warfarin baits. The amount necessary to kill a mouse or other small rodents won’t affect larger animals. It’s used as a blood thinner for human medicine.

I use the blood thinner too. I also have an ultrasonic noise generator in my barn. I can hear it myself so I suppose it generates noise over a large spectrum. Anyhow, it helps. Many less mice/rats than without it. The blood thinner results in about a casualty a month that I see. Probably more hidden in places I can’t see them.

The way I see it, the rodents have millions of acres in my area to live outside. If they elect to live in my structures (and damaging them almost goes without staying), then they elect to take the risk of dying of poisoning. My building’s occupy less than a half percent of the ground I’m allowed (I mean required, or I don’t “own” it anymore) to pay taxes on. I don’t feel sorry for the dead vermin.

WEll…I hate the damage they do as much as anybody…but I recognize they are only trying to survive in their world that changed without their authorization. (wink)

The air intake on the Ford 1210 was full of acorns once. Then I covered the end with 1/4" hardware cloth. The windshield washers quit working on a Ford F150 I had several years ago. #3 Son told me the fluid was dripping out of the bottom of the truck. Something ate a section of the hard plastic line. Had a puyddle in the basement once that was caused by a mouse biting through the icemaker line.

In recent years haven't had much trouble since I maintain the outdoor bait traps.

Well you could try bucket traps, but since you are not there 6 months out the year that wouldnt help cause you have to rebait them once in a while,, or just get some cats
