Well for the most of us the weather has broke and the warm weather is here, or if not on the way. What are some of the things you kids are doing these days with your Tonka toys in the dirt? Are you playing well with others and sharing your toys in the sand box. What are some of the task's and projects you might be doing with you Kubota tractor now that the snow is all gone.

Removed the front blade today and will install MMM tomorrow morning to get the church lawn ready for the egg hunt on Sunday morning for the kids. Already tuned up the FL1000 tiller to turn the mushroom compost into my garden patch early next week.

All in all life is good... could be better however on the other hand it could be much worse. Soooooo this wonderful Easter I plan to tally up my blessings and give thanks for another day.:)

Have an orange day!

Butch life is for sure good. Neither my wife or I walk very good or lift things so the kubota gets used a lot all year round. So like Eric said spring has sprung. The boys and I did some lawn sweeping and then I took the kubota with the 4 ft forks back to the truck box I have for storage carried up her yard tractor and trailer that she uses for gardening. Tuned greased changed fuel filter, the little tractor fired right up so the wife is good for another year. All her summer stuff for out doors are stored in a 4 x 4 box on a shelf in the lean to. Tomorrow that will come down and we just drive the kubota from spot to spot with her gnomes and trolls and windmills and such. Works real nice. What a great day.:D Dusty

Spring is here in the Ft. Worth area. The L35 has been busy moving mulch, tilled the garden, served as a work bench, moved brush w/ the forks and moved gravel. Tomorrow I hope to hook up the grader blade and blade our road and then grade to the neighbor's road (plan to take pics and post here on OTT). I also need to put the backhoe on and correct a drainage problem. The L35 is used practically every day for something. No mowing yet, because the wife likes the wild flowers that bloom across our property for the next couple of months. But on Sunday like you fellows, we're off to church and be thankful.

Well so far for me I have a garden to try and put in somehow for a private school which I am donating my time and equipment to help them out. They must have about 3/4 to an acer plot which I'm doing half of now and the other half maybe a little later on this year or next. I'm going to do all I can do with a grading box and the teeth to break up the ground so its alteast workable by hand for the kids. I plan to get crackin on that in the am and if I dont forget anything, I hope to rememeber to take my camera and some photos.

:DI'm glad to see the warm weather but not really looking forward to the summer heat. I've been moving equipment all week long for my old shed on the other side of my farm to my new one I built behind my house. Every trip was a double run though. It has been so wet here this year everything went to pieces over the winter and it's been to wet to try and repair it. Every time I would go get a piece of equipment I have been trying to fix something as I went. My honey do list doubled this past year when my dad passed away. I'm glad mom lives on the other side of my farm from me. That makes it much easier to get my Kubota over there to help with her little projects. I hope all you guys have a good spring and enjoy those Kubotas.

To much rain and tree pollen has got me abit in a bad spot.
But been working on my fish pond, garden, a new road and hauln limbs with the RTV. My mommy do list keeps growing so I am busy. Just can not wait to hook the stobes up to the RTV for when I am on the road here pickn trash out of the ditch!
Thinking of hooking one yellow in back of the mower also so these speed deamons "might" see me.

I don't think any amount of lights you put on a piece of equipment will help. People now a days don't show any respect for a farmer. I really think they believe we are a target instead of the backbone of the country. What a shame. At least the extra lights will make your Kubota look even better.

Hell ya....SPRING IS HERE :D

Undecided on what to do today I took a ride into town and consulted with a couple of my favorite mechanics. They are really nice and always willing to offer advice

They reminded me this is the best time to take advantage of preventive maintenance and be ready for this new season.

Remove all the machines coverings and give it a real good lube, friction is a bad thing

Well, I took there advice and gave my tractor a real good inspection. The worst I found was two wires that appear to have been chewed on by a rodent

Removed the wires and spliced in a new run with heat shrink and new conduit.

Also removed the box scraper from the 3PH to clean and inspect the lifting arm attach points. A couple of the bearings were stubborn and wouldn't move, but it's all good now.

Inspected all hydro lines and only found a couple that needed attention since the needed rerouting. Cleaned all the dirt and grit that builds up in between the hard lines and FEL. Not much clearance, if any, in those areas.

After I was done I stopped by to tell my mechanics about my accomplishments. They were cleaning up for lunch and they invited me along. Yep, spring is in the air

Well I was able to go knock out the garden job I promised the school I'd do for them. Wasn't a half bad day with the weather. I sweat like a hog anyway no matter what the temp is outside. I was doing real good up til the time I went to take a shot of ice water from my cup I had siting on a retaining wall and a damn 4 foot black snake fell out of a drain hole and scared he hell out of me. I had to go change my underwear on that one. So here are some pictures of my play pen. Not to bad I dont think for only having a grading box.

Heres the link to my photobucket page. That should he a little easier to see all 12 photos this way

Brother Eric, very impressive :D

You should be proud of yourself donating YOUR time and material to less fortunate people. I am proud of you!

The pictures look great and I can understand why you didn't get one of the snake. Man, them suckers give me the heebee jeepee's and I would have run like a little bitch. Soiled pants would have been the least of my concerns

Thanks for keeping us updated,

Scott

DUDE it aint even funny! It took me like 4 smokes and 10 minutes later to calm down and compose myself. I dont mind snakes as long as I know they are there but when one falls at my feet holly hell Im done for. Yeah you want to see a grown damn man at 6ft4 300lbs turn ghost white, toss a snake near his feet and see what happens. I didnt even really see the snake at first. I heard something kinda hit the ground and tussle the leaves. Then I looked down and saw the snake and I was gone like a freighttrain.

On a more serious note, does the dirt work honestly look good enough for any kind of garden? I'm not real sure what the childern of the school plan on planting in there. That's the first time I've ever torn up ground for a garden plot. I had mentioned to the folks at the school I can not build a picture perfect bed with what I have and that they would need to do some elbow work themselves. I've done work similar to that as far as renovating lawn's. But I feel what I have left behind for this garden is a wreck comparied to what I do for yards. This plot has a TON of tree roots in there which I can't do anything with.

Hi Eric. It may not be perfect, but it will be a lot easier for them to work with. You saved them a ton of work. And the snake, Ya that would get my attention too. Dusty

I am fore sure not a land scape specialist be any means. What you did looks fine to me. Maybe your just being a little hard on yourself?

Thanks fellas. I just wasnt sure if what I did for the kids at the school would be abel to do anything in the ground once I cleared it. I just did not want to do a half ass job and leave behind an area where they can do little to nothing with. I'd say roughly the dirt is tore up to around 6 or 8 inches deep. I have no clue what depth garden material needs to have in order to grow.
