Spring black bear trail cam

I have been catching this guy (I think its a male?) on different trail cams for a few weeks now. This is the first decent video. Not knowing much about black bear facts, what does a bear this size eat after coming out of the den and before berries , nuts etc become available? Live off his fat?

I know my restoration efforts are starting to pay off as I see evidence of a increase in wildlife like this bear that seems to be hanging around the property versus just moving thru.

My guess is that is a nice boar and I'm thinking he'll eat pretty much whatever he wants. Spring they mainly eat grasses and roots however they'll prey on deer fawns and young moose.

Like bearbait says, they're quite voracious and opportunistic after hibernation. Anything edible is on the menu.

Yep, nice bear pic Ken....I'd also say boar and prolly around 200lbs live weight. I've bagged 5 so far...three with bow and 2 with rifle. Good eating for sure in my opinion!

I've only seen one black bear in person.

All I could think was if he/she came after me, I'd just smell like poop....

I think I've seen 5 in the wild- but only one outweighed me by very much, they're kinda skinny out here.
Plus, I was not without, shall we say, resources.

Locally the tagging station tagged 58 bear here in southern Maine in 2020. So I was excited to think this spring just maybe the bastards would be thinned out and leave me alone. Nope.
Saturday morning about 5 am. There he is. I started my truck remotely and he jumped over the rail and ran. Its only May and I'm 'bear'ed out already.
I tried to post a video but the upload thing says the mp4 file isn't allowed. And. I can't change it to a jpeg or anything or can't figure out how to.
