I came to the right place! Bought a L2501 with 95 hours on it, then dealer put a new motor in it. Evidently PO ran it without oil. Anyway, I put 13 hours on it and the tach & hour meter quit working. Assuming a broken tach cable is responsible. Would the consensus agree?
I would say yes, that’s around the hrs that I had on my L2501 when the cable broke.

Thats what I would check.

I found that the factory put quite a severe bend in my cable by using a “zip tie” to hold the cable.

When they replaced the cable under warranty, I cut that “zip tie” off to allow for a “more gentle” bend radius.

The hope is that the large bend radius will eliminate future failures…..~220 hours later and its still working 🤞

Can't recall the hours where mine went. But when it did, I replaced it since warranty would have required me to take it in. They are stingy on the lube at whatever company makes them. I gave it a good slathering of motorcycle cable lubricant. It's been a while and doing fine.
