As us Old Timers say up this way " We have two season's, Shoveling and Swatting."
I'll take the winter over summer heat on any day.
I really like what we refer to as the 'shoulder season' around here. It's the time between early spring and summer when things start greening up again and between fall and the first frost when things are winding down.

No oppressive heat, no numbing cold, just nice tranquil days and cool nights to sleep through.

I especially look forward to the early spring shoulder season because things always smell fresh and good.. The fall season not so much because a late hay cut is dealing with the heavy dew and that can be a pita..

Once we have that first hard frost, you know what is coming and it won't be all that long either. Leaves fall, trees get bare, pets grow more hair (that they shed in the house in the spring) and people start putting away their lawnmowers and get ready for the soon coming snow.

Time to service the tractors, Shoulder season is oil change season for me. Cars and trucks too.

When you guys in the south-east are finished with your weather could you please dispose of it carefully and don't just throw it out to sea. All that rain you guys had seems to be making its way over here :D:D:D

Sounds like a normal summer day here in Louisiana;)
Same here in East Tx, mild summer so far. It hasn't hit 100 or higher yet. Now when I stil owned the AC business I would have said this 95 degree mild summer is bad for business:D

I keep coming up with reasons to take the M out while its been so hot,
AC and radio on:)
Today I took a very slow and cautious drive up one of my skid roads that has grown in with 3 foot high underbrush.
And then had to back out because it was too tight to turn around until I open it up for the bigger tractor:eek:

did that yesterday with the car (has climate control). Told the wife I needed gas so I went and filled it up, took 5 bucks.:)

Yesterday it was well over 100 in the barn where I keep the tractors, I bet it was 110+. Not bad today, low 80's and breezy. I think we will get some much needed rain tonight.

Currently in NH 65 degrees and raining...

Last three days were pretty rough. I worked outside for Friday and Saturday, definitely got the pores all cleaned out.

I don't know how you guys from the southeast do it, maybe you just become accustomed after awhile. I have a weather station on my house; it showed we maxed out at 98F and 110F heat index. Temp only dropped to about 74 at night.

My favorite season is fall, and my next favorite is winter. But I'm grateful we get 4 seasons so we can appreciate the others.

It does seem our winters are getting shorter and summers are getting longer and both are getting warmer...I just don't buy that mankind's contribution has much to do with it, and I'm not about to change my lifestyle in a vain effort to change the natural course of Earth's climate.

I said earlier here in East Texas it's been a very cool summer for us. We haven't even had a 100 Deg day yet and yesterday a record low temp for the date was broken after 100 years. It was 62 yesterday morning & the old record was 63

But...but...Rep. Tlaib just said the heat wave was due to global warming and we need the new green deal! You must have read the thermometer wrong!

Thermometer here is making the climb again, how exciting.

Filled both my propane bottles this morning (I have twin 500 gallon bottles for the house and a single 500 gallon for the shop). $1.04 a gallon. Never seen it that cheap. I'm good for the winter now. I'll still get a couple skids of wood pellets for the biomass stove. Wife like to have a fire going in the great room.

It's supposed to get warm here over the next 5 days or so, then cool back down a bit.

That's an extremely good price on propane. I only use it for cooking, small 50 gallon or whatever.

Like most in the northeast, I heat with #2 fuel oil, and a supplemental wood pellet stove.
