2 excellent drivers. Hard enough getting around with a smaller 100,000 lb machine 12 ft wide!

Not nearly as precise as flying 250 knots, with 6' wing tip separation.

Flying is a different animal for sure.
But the logistics moving the big stuff over our wonderful highways aint easy. Revenue cops around every corner.DOT looking to grab you for the smallest screw up. Laws in every state different. Permits are a real PITA. Than finding escorts if needed that are actually qualified 🤦‍♂️. Figuring out when curfews are. If we can run at night or day. Than tires, fuel stops with big loads. Than the clueless 4 wheelers..😎Its not real easy. But paid my homes and other stuff off at an early age. Wouldn’t want to do it anymore….But its an experience if your a problem solver 🤣

Most likely a photo stunt by Caterpillar. Very unlikely they would move a machine that big, all in one piece very far. Those tractors and trailers don’t look like they are set up for extreme loads. Shorter wheel base and only tandems not triples.

Its been done many times. I have witnessed a D11 full blade and ripper moved by 2 RGNs. Look closer those are 4 axle tractors. Probably 2 7axle or 8 axle setups. Cat has no reason to pull stunts with trucks anymore. They don’t do over the road trucks anymore thanks to our screwed up EPA crap..
but I’ll bet that was a very short move. Like to know were it was …plus see a side view to decide photoshop or real 🤣😎.
It can and is done…. Most do it a bit outlaw and no pictures 🤦‍♂️🤣🍺🍺

I am wondering how tightly it was chained down. I would think you would need to give it a bit of wiggle room to allow for the movement between the trailers.

Actually they dont chain them down. One reason its usually outlaw. Dot wouldn’t like anything about these moves 🤣🤣🤣.
Local law enforcement usually helps with these moves for short distances..

You can see there the trucks are triple axle. That's one big sob. A long drive to Tony Beets claim in the Yukon.

hmm, anyone see oversized load or wide load or flags ????
Kinda why i said outlaw🤣
I actually have pulled oversized loads sneaking around at night or weekends 😎. Surely wouldn’t put oversized signs on.
In this case it wouldn’t matter as DOT would never give permission to pull this off. Probably paid off locals to move it a short distance…. Get caught and the fines are thru the roof. But so is taking that excavator apart. The signs are just a small part of whats wrong. They dont even chain those loads down. Plus you probably could never get the axle weights correct on 2 petes running only 8axles per truck.
Pretty sure that was a local move. Betting the excavator was a load for the house… another load per trac section…another load for counterweights..another load for stick… probably another load for bucket and misc when it was brought in and assembled. I have moved parts of these big ones. Pretty interesting seeing it.
Its ballsy to do what these guys did 🤣🤣. Break a driveshaft or rearend oh boy what a mess.
No expert but have been around it…
