Watched the video then read as many articles as I could find. It appears that a third party and an un-named employee are the real culprits. Looks like other schools using Peachjar web site found the same flyer on their systems. Somebody was asleep at the switch.
I would have liked to hear the board's response as it seems some of them were pretty pissed off about it also.
Now I will get on my soap box. Older folks not aware, BULL. I have been attending school board meetings for over 40 years. I see the same people over and over. You couldn't pay me enough to run for the school board. No matter what they do somebody in the district will not be happy. The loudest and most annoying are parents that have never attended a meeting or workshop and then have one minor issue that they need to rant and rave about.
This woman was correct to bring this to the board but, way off base to accuse them of being groomers and pedophiles .

This is REAL KINDERGARTEN curriculum in my state, Maine. Although this was removed by the Maine Dept of edu, it was only done after lots of screaming.

Im sure its regional these problems but they do exist and on a level FAR more than we really know because concerned parents are blown off and not listen to, told they are racist haters etc. and none of these issue get attention unless a video like above goes viral.
Ive heard some older people talk about "problems" in the world but seem to not really understand just how bad things have gotten. Understandable since a grandparent or great grandparent isnt usually active in school stuff or other stuff going on in a young persons world.

Eh.... seeing that convictions for child sex crimes involving school staff are at an all time high.....maybe not so far off base.
Yeah man. I woman in my old school district started reading from some of those books at a school board meeting. They shut off her mic because "there were children present and it was being broadcast on local cable"
They couldn't even see the irony.

Gender Queer: A memoir, should not be in a grade school or even a high school. It does address subjects that too many many people will not even try to understand until it happens in their family.
Another reason to stay informed and attend these meetings.
Its a big issue. Here in Pittsburgh many families including mine have moved their children to different schools in an attempt to outrun the wokeness. It was a lot easier when academic achievement was the most important thing. Go to itemfix.com to get an unfiltered view of the world today. Its very disappointing to see the lack of decency in segments of society. Humans have a long way to go evolutionary wise.

Huh?? The parents in Buxton stayed informed and went to meetings. They made a stink about the presence of porno in the school library and said it should be banned. The school board fought to keep it. 10-1 vote and won. It wasnt even about the LGBT subject matter but rather the pornography matter.
Did you watch the video i posted above about Freedom Holidays? None of this stuff gets discussd at school board meetings until AFTER parents find out about it.
First, I did not say school board members. Second, would you really like for me to enter a simple search of the number of school staff (which is what I really said) arrested for sex crimes against minors for you?

The original post had a speaker accusing the board of being pedophiles and I mis-read your post. Mea culpa.
No need for a search. As an active parent and school board attendee I have been on committees that help the reporting of student abuse. In the not so recent past students were afraid to report abuse by a teacher. Parents and boards almost always backed the teacher or the child was forced to recant. It took years to get better counselors , union backing, and empower the students. The 'me too' movement was a great help to empower young girls to come forward. A large part of the rise in reporting is that the actions are being reported now and not buried by parents, boards and clergy.

You are indeed correct in that it's been a long time problem and only come to light because people are being held accountable.
When I was in High School, my buddies found a novel in the library that had a descriptive chapter on a sex scene. The Librarian noticed groups of boys in that section of the library laughing at something.
The school board found out about it, had the book removed, and an investigation was started. We didn't hear about the results of the investigation.

I am 72 snd the issue of what to teach and when in public school sex eduaction has been a hot topic button all my life. The only thing that has changed is we now acknowledge realities that we used to hide under the carpet. Kids ain't deaf and blind - they are going to hear and see it either in school, at home, or on the street. The all have phones/computers and unfettered access to internet chat rooms and XXX web sites. They are going to search out and see things that would curl your toes.

I remember how my dad seemed to think how things were not as good as they used to be...wonder if this syndrome is starting to show up in the younger people now...younger meaning those approaching or at "middle age" whatever that point is.
Myself, I have four grandkids aged 8 through 15. Two kids elementary school teachers. I am a bit isolated from concerns parents may have...but don't hear complaints from my kids, whatever that means...
