Hooked up snowblower, engine dies if I let out clutch. Auger is free, could gearbox be seized up

How are your RPM's. Try bringing them up so it don't lug the engine. If they already high I got nothing(-;

I would start by disconnecting the pto shaft. The fan and auger on the blower should be able to be rotated by hand freely. If it rotates freely the blower should be good to go which I think you say is whats happening


If not it is something on the tractor side of the equation.

With pto shaft unhooked, will the tractor spin the spline pto stub?

If the problem is on the tractor side, check the fuel delivery. What are the ambient temperatures where you are at? If it's below freezing, do you have winter fuel in the tank?
Remember, in addition to the gearbox, you have a reduction drive box which lowers the pto speed to around 540 rpm's.

It should not take much torque to cause the assembly to rotate assuming you are not below freezing temps and water is in something.
