I have a blower on my BX25 and it is ridiculously tough to crank the chute both ways. Ive taken the chute all apart and lubed it all up and cleaned it out and its still a nightmare. Seems the worm gear and the rod are pretty poorly designed. Advice?

Mine is a little tuff to rotate when the blower is lifted all the way up. When its lowered it alot easier to rotate, not the greatest design. Sure beats a shovel. Might be looking to upgrade to the hydrolic rotator next year.

Mines impossible all the way up, but even all the way down it still takes 2 hands to move it. I think im going for the hydraulic kit since its apparently going to snow again this week

Mine gets tough to turn when I'm in deep snow. I just slow my speed down a bit then its easy . It should turn freely while under a light load .

Mine is easy, no problem at all. Something is out of whack on yours.

I had a snow thrower that was tough to turn. It would freeze up. The chute attached to the blowers flange with three adj clamps witch allowed it to turn. I cut a slip ring out of "uhmw" plastic 3mm thick (1/:cool:and put it between chute and flange on blower body. It turned like butter and never froze up. http://www.eplastics.com/UHMW_Sheet

I got rid of the crank, on the old 4' ford that I converted to a front mount, on my ASV RC30. Cut the crank off with a sawzall, and put an old lawnmower steering wheel on it...:D

But you didn't post the punchline! C'mon, give us pics of it installed and working, and discuss the pros and cons of it now that you've used it... Oh! I just realized, when you finished, it was too pretty to take it out of the shop! :D
Not that pretty, but very functional!
Going on second year with this set-up and I have no complaints. Works like a champ! The wife likes the operation as well when she uses it. Being able to direct the height adjustment of the chute from inside the cab is awesome!

My chute really wobbled so I took you suggestion but made these shims for under the hold downs. I used a hard plastic cutting board and router to make the grooves. Works much better now. I also had to shim the drive gear up. It was just barely hitting the chute teeth. You would think that Kubota would do a much better job fitting these.

Also made plastic skids for the snowblower. Used a few times and they don't show any wear yet. Dealer wanted $150 for them.

I viewed that website and fount you can get a square foot of the 1/8" UHMV plastic that has adhesive on one side. That might make the installation and retention easier. Reading about that material, they indicated that one of the properties of it is that it will pucker between fasteners if the fasteners are too far apart. Nevertheless, I will be applying that to the chute/chassis interface when my tractor is delivered.

Any chance you'd like to make a second kit like this and sell it to me? I would love to go hydraulic but anything is better than manual. I just don't have the skill to do this myself and just had rotator cuff surgery so I need to be able to just bolt it on when it arrives.

Let me know. I would be willing to make it worth your while.
