I am preparing for snow season. I bought a used GR2846A snowblower this spring. I am checking things over in advance

Now for the question. On line a replacement chain (39 links of #40 chain) from Kubota or others lists for $60-65. If I could by 39 links of#40 and a connector link for 1/3 of that. Why should I pay the price.

Is there a special designation for this chain? Inquiring minds want to know
Thanks

Is your question, "Can I buy aftermarket chain?"
Yes #40 chain is #40 chain.
Like anything else, Quality of the chain is subjective.

Quality is important. Cheap chain will kink and destroy sprockets PDQ.

Me? I'd buy a quality motorcycle chain, if enough room side to side, a good X or O ring chain in a 420 size (same as a 40 only more robust). One good chain will will last a life time.

FWIW I gathered some information re the chain specification for a Kubota GR2120 snow blower

The original is an "O" ring chain. Understandable given the usage scenario. The other practical aspect is... I can buy the chain, but it comes in ten foot rolls. Not at all practical for just on ~20" chain for one snowblower.

Go to a good Ag Equipment dealer, take your old chain with you and see if they will make you up a new one out of 40H chain. The H stands for Heavy Duty. Many dealers will cut you chain to length off from a roll of chain.

The chain on a used blower I refurbed was OK, but A REAL hardware / farm supply store near me cut chain to fit, plus a spare and had links to make field repairs. I don't remember the cost.
