has anyone found that the 72" blower doesn't draw the snow in so well at times? has anyone done anything to improve this issue?

The only time that happened to me was when the PTO lever wasn't fully engaged. Had me scratching my head for a minute or two. Now I make sure its locked in. Other than that too much snow and you need to slow down some maybe.

To state the basic blower operation.

The augers move the snow towards the center of the blower where flat rotating surfaces or paddles push it into the fan.

There is no sucking going on other than air movement through the blower fan.

It happens that auger shear bolts fail but remnants of the bolt stay in place and will drive the auger when no load is applied to it. You check the auger with the tractor running and before you start blowing. It is rotating and looks good. You move into the snow and now the shear bolt remnants no long can drive the auger and it stalls. From the seat it looks like the blower wont move the snow but if you looked from in front of the blower you would see the auger is not rotating.

Anyone else 'upset' we're talking about SNOW and it's ONLY November ??

BTW the SAFE and EASY way to check augers..
1) tractor OFF, NOT running . Kinda important.
2) grab an auger and try to spin. You may have to hold the other.
If one spins, that one broke it's shear pin.
