Snow Blower question

Hi,
My Dad has a 2005 2910 30hp with a 63" two stage snow blower. I'm going to take the snow blower off his hands and I'm looking to buy a Kubota. Does anyone know if this 63" Blower (B2782) will fit on new models like the BX2380 etc or do I need to get a B series? Any tractors recommended? I'd prefer used but with 0% financing I'm considering new. I've got a 400 ft paved driveway and get about 130" of snow a year. I don't need a mower and a loader would ne nice but not necessary. The Blower is probably the same age as his tractor. His quick hitch subframe for it is a B2761. Thanks for any help!

That's a front-mount blower, right?

I'm no expert, but I doubt it would work well with a BX series. The BX is a smaller tractor, so the subframe would not fit without extensive modification. It might be easier to start from scratch and build a whole new subframe.

Similarly, while both the B2910 and the BX models have forward facing high speed PTOs, they may or may not have the same spline pattern and the distances will certainly be different, so modification of the driveshaft may be necessary.

But perhaps most importantly, a BX doesn't have enough horsepower and weight to keep a 63" wide blower happy. I would think something in the 50" range would be more appropriate.

Maybe you could buy Dad a new tractor and take the old one and blower off his hands?

Otherwise, For direct bolt-on, Google says that blower fits models B2710, B2910 B3030HSDC, and B7800. It might also possibly fit the B7610. But I have no personal knowledge of that.

The blower in question is for B sized tractors and not the BX series. The BX used a narrower and lighter weight front snowblower.

You'll need the appropriate quick hitch/subframe and a driveline kit to complete the installation. These will vary with tractor model.

It should fit a BX IF you get the correct hitch and drive line kit. I bought a BX5450 that a guy had on a B2620 in Feb. The rear drive shaft was the correct length, but that was it. I had to get the correct hitch, front pto shaft, and mid shaft to make it work on my BX2670. The hitch for a B series is much larger and heavier, and cost a lot more money. I wouldn't put that large of a blower on anything less than a BX2670 or so though. If you get the front pto shaft from your fathers tractor you should be able to cut it down to work.

Here is a link for the hitch for BX70 series and older. This is what the hitch looks like. You may be able to find a used one. I picked up mine with a used front blade.

yes this is the front mount blower. thanks for the info! I called a local Kubota dealer today and was told this blower is mostly set up to be used on the older B series--he also said the B3000, 3200,3300 and 2920 should work. This dealer has four locations and not one used Kubota! They fly off the shelf. the ones online all seem about $12k with a loader. Boy they hold value. this dealer said a new B2650 will work with this blower--New, no loader or mower, but with subframe and pto shaft $16,781 pre tax.

No experience w/ front mount snow blowers operated by mid-pto .

However, buying a compact tractor, minus a loader is a significant error.

The resale and desirability of a loaderless tractor is greatly reduced.
Models change and OEM loader availability is reduced. Aftermarket is also a negative.

Tasks change, and most tractors are eventually sold or traded.

MFWD assist, a loader and HST are the lifeblood of the compact tractor features.

FYI: I have operated a rear mount 65" PTO snowblower on my 22 PTO hp Ford and it performs well but slow in snow more than a foot deep and wet.

I have that Blower on my B3200, works great up here on the "Tug", but I also so have a Woods BX70 back-hoe on for ballast and to get me out of really deep stuff if needed. Oh and its been needed....LOL look at a 2650 and you should be good to go.

I have a B2782 blower on one of my B7510's and its smaller brother, the B2771 on the other B7510. The 21 engine HP of the B7510 is adequate for the B2782 blower. It's not a real power house but it is certainly adequate.

I haven't yet had the opportunity to move snow with the B2771 blower on the other B7510 tractor so can't give a meaningful comparison between the 51" and 62" blowers when mounted on the same tractor. Logic would dictate one should have more excess power with the narrower blower, however I have run that same tractor with a rear-mount 51" Meteor blower (very similar impeller design and fit to the Kubota blower) and I can't say that it blew snow any better than the 62" front mount blower on the other B7510. Now to confuse things even further, I had that same 51" Meteor blower on my B7200 and could detect only a slight increase in performance when upgrading from the B7200 to the B7510.

No matter - that blower will work well on a B-series tractor from the B7510 on up.

Now let me ask a totally silly question... Why not take your Dad's tractor AND blower and he gets a new tractor that fits his needs? Would likely save you all a bunch of pain and frustration. Especially at this time of year when nobody has any spare bits and pieces for mounting snowblowers.

Back before I retired and needed to get to work everyday I had a Lucknow rear mount 2 stage thrower 72" wide that I ran on my 105X. I live about a mile off the pavement on a dirt road and I did the road to get out.

I'm here to tell you that the 72 Lucknow made my 105 blow some smoke, it was everything the 105 could handle and then some.

I've since sold it. No need to get to work anymore, I'm retired.

Blowers, front or rear mount are very power intensive implements. and a light dusting of snow and a heavy wet snow or drifts are 2 different animals.

From my first hand experience, lots of power is paramount as well as torque rise and a turbo on the engine.

I have a contractor plow out my drive and turn around now. Lots cheaper than doing it myself.

I Have been plowing my driveway and our cabin driveway for many years, this fall when I picked up a BX2670 I really was considering a rear blower. Mostly so I didn’t have to plow off of our newly blacktop driveway. But this helps me realize I most likely don’t need it. Also getting in a warm truck before work to open up the driveway is more inviting than a cold tractor seat.

Well a few weeks later and lots of warm/ freezing weather that’s been going back and forth. I picked up a Farm King blower and painted it up Kobuta orange. Used it several times. It’s much faster than plowing, I don’t have to push snow to the end of the county line to have room for more snow. The cons... I do eat some snow, and I’m not in the warm cab of my truck. Lol!

While a cab, even a soft cab, is the nicest solution, a snowmobile suit and helmet does help a lot when the wind is blowing the snow back at you.

I have seen guys wear helmets. It takes me about 15 mins or so to blow snow so it’s not to bad I guess. Our falls have been very wet the last few years with no freezing before the first snow , I was tires of rutting up the yard with my truck while plowing off the driveway.
