Well, first off, I was cleaning up after the storm this morning. Everything was good until I wnet to help out the Amish next door.

Started getting his driveway cleaned up a bit. Went down where his door to the barn was and then I hit a 2x2 that was there.

No worries, the sheer bolt on the one side of the auger, and the sheer bolt on the fan broke. No issues there except for replacing the sheer bolt on the fan.

I had to move the snap ring forward and pull the fan forward so I could see where the sheer bolt was. I drove it out the broken off sheer bolt and then put everything back the way it belonged. The sheer bolt for the fan needed a couple of taps to get it all the way through.

Back to snow blowing and I was just finishing up and then the snow blower just stopped. I shut off the PTO, checked the auger and the fan, all sheer bolts are intact. I spun the fan and the augers turned....

Got back on the tractor and a engaged the PTO again, my neighbor said the PTO shaft was spinning, but nothing up front was working.

Is there a sheer bolt or something else I should be looking for inside of the gear box or some where else? Any ideas?

I have to get ready for work and I am hoping this being parked in the garage thawing out will let me see something that I am missing.

Shear bolt on PTO shaft itself? Mine has one on my bush hog for obvious reasons, unsure if a blower would have one as well...

If the other suggestions don't work out... Perhaps the chain broke or something else in the Reduction Box.

Please report back what you find.

Mine did throw the drive chain off earlier this winter like 200 suggested - can't see it unless you pull the cover. Went back together fine. Guessing if you had to move everything forward - you were in there and it would have been obvious.

Not the best tightening mechanism there....

Good luck - I can't think of any other spots to fail except item 19 looks like it might be a sheer - it's a pretty straight-forward set-up.

Would assume the impellor would still turn with a gearbox failure.

You either broke the chain (or it came off), or the 1/4" key (part #21) on the PTO shaft to the chain drive or the key for the fan drive (part #13). Those are the most 2 likely points of failure.

I was able to sneak back home and pull the cover off. The chain and gear all appear to be where they are supposed to be. I turned the chain by hand and the fan/auger turned. The PTO shaft didn't. I grabbed the PTO shaft and started turning it...nothing.

My brother stopped by while I was doing this and he took a look down inside the where the gears reside, we both looked and could see where it looked like a sheer bolt (#19) might have been...at least that's what I am assuming.

I'm going to run it up to the local dealer and show him what I found.

He said he'd take a look at it and make sure nothing else is henky'd up with it.

But I think that sheer bolt (#19) maybe the issue...

The lower input shaft with the small gear, that's attached to the PTO shaft, had a roll pin the was sheered off.

Kubota updated that input shaft, so I had it replaced with the new input shaft. Price not an issue, but I did pay for a couple of hours of labor, which wasn't inexpensive.....

Anyway, lesson learned, and they changed out the gear box oil, because it looked a little milky too.

Snow blower runs as should. The mechanics like my home made hydraulic chute rotator and the added LED lights.:D
