Hi guys,

I've been using my B5100 most days since I got it back together. For a small tractor it has great heart.
To that point ...I probably shouldn't have but I fitted a 1m rotavator to it. ..this rotavator had the tines cut so they are straight not curved and only about 2.5m long.it probably original needs a 18hp.to run but with the tine adaptation done it ran away for me.
It was all going great until recently. I've noticed a slapping type chatter noise from somewhere between the clutch and the gear box when the rotavator is running and under a bit of pressure. When it's going back over soft ground there's no abnormal noise. Any pointers for me..I know to really investigate I need to split the clutch housing from the gear box but I want to know what to expect first. I could post a video not sure it will it show much as the noise of the engine and the rotavator running will be loud anyway..but I can if people think it would help diagnose.

When I hear a slapping noise it’s usually something wound around the tines like roots or bits of wire.

You need a buddy to operate the equipment and someone to investigate the source of the noise.

Be weary of rotating machinery

Unless there is chain slap or gear slap in the tiller, then most likely issue is a broken gear on the PTO drive in the tractor.
