Hi all! New user here, got my little mighty mouse BX23s TLB working on my 10 acres. I need to smooth a few bumpy spots here and there, nothing major but floating the bucket and back blading just isn't getting it done. Previous machines I've had I would have thrown a box blade on and gone to town and followed it with a prairie finisher but...backhoe! It's easier than most but I still don't want to take the darn thing off all the time. I was looking at a couple of skid steer style options including a quick attach grader, i.e. grading planer but it mounts on the front, or potentially just getting a rock bucket and pushing it around. Both of these in my mind have the advantage of being quick to put on and off and being able to float them with the loader. Rock bucket advantage is maybe one day I want a grapple and I'm halfway there. Any opinions or experiences? Thanks all!

I know you said you dont want to have to take the backhoe off.. i pop mine on and off quite a bit; and its a breeze, i can switch from backhoe to my boxblade in less than 10 min. I built a wood frame for the backhoe to sit on, so i dont need to use the side stabilizers to pick it up off the bottom hooks. (you can buy a comercially available cart for it) The dealer told me to never use my FEL as a dozer its too easy to bend the loader arms on the smaller machines.

You might be able to pull off a VERY VERY light weight SSQA land plane.
Rock Bucket out of the question, way too heavy.
But be very mindful of the implement weight, as you only have 613lbs of lift at the SSQA plate, and most SSQA land planes come in at 700+.

Perhaps a toothed edge on your bucket while back dragging. Then go back to were you started and use the heel of the bucket to pull the material with you in reverse. I’ve done hard packed gravel this way for years and had good success. Might be the cheapest option.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I like the idea of back dragging with some bolt on teeth just to lightly scarify the surface. I think I will suck it up and get a box blade as well unfortunately that means I am going to have to get some skill now. Appreciate the advice about dozing with the loader I wasn't aware of that!
