Skid Steer Attachment Compatability

I am looking for a tree/post puller attachment to throw on the front my of MX5800's LA1065. It has the quick attach connection, so am I good for all skid steer attachments, or are there some caveats to the "quick attach" compatibility?

Pretty much, yes. SSQA is SSQA so if you have a SSQA quick attach and a SSQA implement you can attach it to your loader.

The real issues (which you’ve probably already thought of) are making sure the implement is sized correctly for your machine (7500lb capacity forks on a 2500lb capacity loader is just using up loader capacity on overweight forks), having third function on your machine if the implement has its own hydraulic cylinders (grapple, etc.), and if the implement has hydraulic motor (auger, etc.) making sure your machine has sufficient flow.

the only “fitment” issues would be if you don’t have the third function to run the cylinder for the jaw on the puller and a decision on how heavy of a unit do you need for your tractor and intended use.

Ok that makes sense. Yeah, I do have 3rd function luckily. Just looking to pull grapevines out of the ground so I am thinking I should be ok. I have just used chain hooked to the bucket in the past, so I think this will work a lot better.

Small B2650, If I had an MX, would have bought this. Better protection of cylinder for digging.

If grapevines are small a root grapple may be the better tool. Saplings smaller than 1/2" diameter the tree puller crushes it and snaps off rather than pulling

That's a nice attachment right there. The vines are roughly 25 years old now, so I think they are big enough to warrant a puller.

I run one on my MX5800 that I purchased some years ago from Titan or pallet forks.com. I Thought it was good value and very robust. There are no issues with it fitting your tractor and it requires 3rd function front hydraulics.

Use carefully on you tractor front end loader so not to do any damage. I find that it works well for smaller trees up to about 3” in diameter once I start to hit 4” and bigger it can be more of a struggle. Depends on tree and type of ground.

I would never put it on my L3901 the loader is not heavy enough. I later purchased a track loader and mainly use it on that, track loader pulls trees like weeds.

In summary it is very useful and your MX5800 will run one well, just don’t be reckless with it. I’d check the weight between different models. The model I have weighs 330 lbs and is currently on sale for $865 including delivery. Good luck with your new attachment.

I don't care WHICH 'puller/remover' you get. them )(*%$%&*(* grape vines 'WILL be back'..sigh. The ONLY way I got rid of them was to sell the property....now the new owners can have 'fun', hehehehehe

I never realized how much a problem they could be until recently. About 25 years ago I built a grape arbor and planted vines. Fast forward 20 years and an ice storm took down the whole arbor. This year I finally got around to cleaning up the old vines. I had no idea how much they had spread into the woods.
We have 6 really wooded acres and when I obtained my tractor I decided to clear some brush areas I had done several years ago with my previous machine. Wow, where there a bunch of really big vines. I ended up using a chain and/or chainsaw. They are 50' high in the trees and more!

Luckily there are no trees or any out of control vines on this property. But I think some ripping of the soil will be in order after the tear out to prevent that.
