Sickle bar mower suggestion

Hi all, I’m new to the site, been lurking for awhile, great source of information. I’m in need of a sickle bar mower for my Kubota L2501. I’ve been researching and read that there may be issues hooking tho old mowers to a modern compact tractor, narrow wheel width and such. I would prefer a 5 or 6 foot model, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a NH 451 that has been very reliable through the years. Not sure how f it would fit an L series or not. I had to do some modification to get it to fit my M Series.

I found a NH 451 on Craigslist for $700, it’s a 7 footer. I may go check it out but I was really wanting a shorter one.

Before you buy it I would make sure it would fit the tractor. They were designed for the old school tractors not today’s compacts. KEEP PLENTY IF GREASE IN THE WOBBLE DRIVE. A lot of expensive bearings in there. But like I said I have never ha an issue.

I found a NH 451 on Craigslist for $700, it’s a 7 footer. I may go check it out but I was really wanting a shorter one.

I think I saw the same one. It looks like it is missing the lift mechanism. It’s a big u shaped bar that hooks to the top link pin and then the top link goes between it and the mower. It moves a cable to pick up the cutter bar when you lift the mower with the 3 point hitch.

The 451 is a very good sickle bar mower but not suited to your CUT.

It will interfere with the tires and, likely, other things.

Not sure that you will find a small used sickle bar mower that will mount to your CUT without modifications.

Back in the day, most small sickle bar mowers were belly mounted.

Also look at a case ih 1300 if you can find one. I have one and will mow straight up to straight down. Hooks to 3pt and pro only!! It was made in 1995

One can still buy a sickle bar mower that will fit your tractor. Here's an example...

It has the 9 ft cutting bar and it does not, NOT conflict w/ tires or linkage.

There is a small steel adapter required that extends the factory linkage slightly rearward . It is a NH part, made specifically for use w/ compact tractors.

I bought this mower new in the 1990's and NH realized it would be adapted to compact tractors.

If interested, I'll look in my owner's manual for the adapter part #.

Thanks all for the info, I need it to cut hay , I bought a mini round baler and rake now I just need a cutter. The NH I was looking at was sold , so I’m still looking.

Just an update, I picked up a NH 450 today. I didn’t have time to attempt to connect it to my tractor, I’ll try tomorrow, fingers crossed. But I was wondering if anyone had an owners manual they would like to share, PDF version. Thanks
