I'm jealous. You have a building big enough to build buildings in.

My machine shop would fit inside of your machine shop.

KP that is a very classic adaptation of something I remember seeing in a very old Popular Science I think, though it was for a house with a garage,, nicely done ;)

I scored at an estate sale this weekend. In addition to the machining-related stuff shown below, I also got a shoe box full of other woodworking/mechanic/general tools, a new red LED MagLite flashlight, and the wife picked up a case of envelopes. All for $90. Got some cleanup to do, the place was filthy and there is some light rust, but it's all cosmetic.
That GT&D #8 tap wrench is 41" long.

The house belonged to a retired aircraft mechanic who FILLED the house (and I mean FILLED) with tools, junk, & car parts. Backyard was FILLED also; junk, auto parts, and (6) trucks, including (3) cabover Jeep pickups. He got so much stuff, that he bought a second house a few miles away, and then FILLED that. I spoke with his sister, and she said things just got away from him. INSIDE the house was a small mill, a 9x20 lathe identical to my old one, a drill press, (2) sheet metal shears, & a sheet metal brake. (all inside) There where several old engine analyzers, hydraulic presses, parts washers, hydraulic tubing benders, more drill presses. Just about everything was dirty, rusty, or both. There were differentials in the kitchen sink. There will be an estate sale at the second house in a a week or two, so stay tuned.

I figured about $1200.:)
Unless you buy fromMSC- they want over $1200 for the dividing head alone.

Only got (2) shop tools from the second estate sale- a digital disk brake caliper and a flex-type indicator holder. This set uses a vise-grip base; I will be using it with a mag base. A little surface rust on the flex shaft, caliper is good to go.
$1 for the caliper, $18 for the holder set.
Also picked up (3) new-in-the-package LED taillight sets for $6 each.

Picked up a new 5" vise for the shop, same size as the old one, but this has rotation, swivel base, & the pipe vise. Found it an estate sale. (before the virus) It had never been used, was still in the box, pretty decent for $25.

Cut my HF press plates flat & parallel & added a center hole. The rough cast plates were pretty crude.

To supplement my small tapping stand, (1st pic) I fabricated this larger stand from stuff laying around the shop. Two small tap holders that fit in the large one, and two different size & weight hand wheels.

Nice! Great to see unused stuff get new life.
The research lab I worked for for many years had very little budget for equipment & tools. We got pretty adept at recovering & repurposing obsolete & discarded equipment.
