I have/had a small ammo can mounted to my ROPS

I have to remount it though because I did not mount it with large enough washers and the "Chinesium" gave way.

For the L 47, the 40 caliber can was the largest ammo can I could find, to hold the most. It is actually a larger cam than the 50 caliber can. Doing a search of the many times this subject has been talked about. I posted my pictures at least a couple times.

All the ammo cans are flimsy. To include the vintage era.

I've thought of using a 5gal Jerry Can, cut down. Cut it about 12" of the bottom, cut the top off at the seam, band the top to make a lip, for overlap and retention, hinge the back, hasp (or use an ammo can latch) the front type thing. Punch some holes in the bottom. Rhino Line it.

I'm thinking of a steel (4" square tube) with a flat plate to which I would bolt a box to between my rops bars. Maybe a chain box up front bolted to the frame

You definitely are at an advantage for options, with platform fenders. That looks good, and plenty sufficient.

Trying to muster something for my BX23S-1 has been tedious, staying off the ROP bar and within the stance of the wheels.

Just don’t drill into the ROPS. I made a base/bracket for each side so no welding to or drilling into the ROPS.

Same for me. IF you have a tractor with a 'Flat' Fender then a regular tool box works well and also makes a dandy arm rest.

This is on the L3830. the idea came from @Flintknapper. Has its own frame to support it. But, I did loose some rearward visibility, really noticeable using the back blade and pretty noticeable using the brush hog.

This is on the B2601. It’s a cheap plastic 30 cal “ammo” can that replaced the dealer’s plastic pencil box. It’s good for putting trash in when I mow the county R/W in front of my field.

Chainsaw brackets are handy aren't they. I like where you have yours mounted.

Normally, I carry just a small saw in mine, but they will support a fairly large saw...as evidenced by your application. I like it.

Indeed. I looked around and those chainsaw mounts seemed to be the best fit my application. I did cut the ears off of them and bolt them directly the top rail of the basket and the bottom rail and the independent support bracket. They aren’t going anywhere unless I hit something.

The mounting strategy fir the two saws was to leave a good view shed over my left shoulder, since I’m left eyed and to allow for a pole saw mount on the right side (design is rolling around still in my head, plus a couple other partially done projects have slowed me down).

I have one for using my pole saw or extension ladders. You can see one of the brackets in this picture, sorta obscuring that valve body/hose. Note how it slides into that upright tube. That J shaped piece I lift up and rotate 90 degrees so it stick out and the other is a small similar type of hook that fits on the side of the front bucket. I raise the bucket up enough to level them roughly and put the pole saw or ladder on and off I go.

The concept is a hanger off the pivot point bracket on the ROPS (no mods to the ROPS, use the existing open hole) and a U shaped support that is bolted to the FEL valve hardware. The U shaped support will stick up quite a ways to allow the FEL to be able to move through the full range of movement. It will also have the upper portion removable and plug in to a lower section socket that says bolted the the valve support bolts.

Overall mounting position concept.

Rear hanger mount location (it won’t be a bungy cord), but you can see the open hole that will be employed.

Front mount location (it won’t be chunks if 2x4, that’s just to get the dimensions and orientation).

The rear hanger will only be about 4 inches long. The front support will be about 18” tall. Hence why the upper 14” will be removable when the pole saw is not mounted. The saw will be at an angle to the long axis of the tractor to allow the FEL to have full functionality (since I’ll likely have the grapple on it). It will pass over the top of the FEL lever to allow it to be usable. The “dry” fit suggests there will be plenty of shoulder room as the saw angles towards the center of the tractor such the the boom on the FEL can come up without hitting the saw.

The mount on the existing valve hardware and the socket/removable section will take a bit of thought to get right.

But if it was easy, anyone could do it. I like a good challenge to solve. I maybe slow, but I sure am slow.
