So, I've had my BX25D for almost 3 years now and I love it. It's like when you get your first pickup and say to your self how did I ever get along without this. But, I my only complaint is, I need more power/capability. My thinking is it's better to sell on the secondary, but with Kubota's great 0% financing will it be hard to sell? The dealer will give me about 60% of what I paid for trade in.

I sold my bx for $2000 more than what the dealer was offering for a trade in on a b model. So if your dealer isn't offering fair market value sell it your self

Different tractors, similar situation. I worked a cash deal on my L3200 back in 2012 and planned on selling the B7500 I had privately after I had the new tractor. Before we did the paperwork, the dealer saw my B7500, he made an offer. The savings in sales tax (he counted it as a trade-in) almost equaled the difference between his offer and what my "low sell" number. Then there was the benefit of not having to deal with a bunch of tire kickers.

The dealer is the real privet point, you can get an idea what the open market is for your machine, by looking to CL and the auto trader and some tractor company web sites. And then go in to see your dealer. A lot of dealers dont want to much used inventory sitting around the yard and wont really give you a deal. UNLESS they know of someone that is looking for what your trying to trade in, then they know they have a sale and will deal. Its just like a car you are trying to get trade in with a Hugo, or a 429 Boss Mustang. Which one do you think they will jump on and make you a deal?

Thanks all. Some good points here. I checked CL and Steve67 is spot on I've seen some comparable tractors for about $2000 more that I was offered. Then again that's what their asking. I would like to know what they actually get. I was thinking the same thing as Chim. I don't like dealing with a bunch a tire kickers. But, I would make an exception for $2000. Like Skeets said, I'll go back to the dealer armed with some open market prices and see what's what.

Your best bet is to sell to someone you know or a referral and in the market for your machine.

You are going to get plenty of tire kickers and low ballers. Be prepared to sit on it for a while to get the price you want. In my experience guys who have the money will generally buy equipment from a dealer...the ones who go for private sales either don't have the cash or are window shoppers and time wasters only looking for steals.

I'd squeeze the dealer for more cash. Hopefully you have another couple of dealers to bid against each other for your business.

in my opinion it’s no different than dealing with car dealerships, 95% of the time you will get more money from a private party sale than you will for trade in. Now on the other hand if you just don’t want to deal with the headache of having folks come negotiate with you and waste your time then by all means trade her in.

yup same here...

its been better to buy new & sell the tractors on the side afterwords...

$2k seems to be about what the dealers target/want to make off of handling a used Kubo.

so IF you can stand to sell it yourself? you better that way.

sold my 6200 & 7200 that way... the 2601 did get traded in... but they wanted it & had a buyer waiting on it, so got more out of it that way.

but that is the exception vs the usual.

bx's sell really good if they are in good shape.

The dealer offered me $12,500 for my tractor and implements . I looked at CL and saw simular tractors, but with less attachments and more hours going for around $16,000. I also knew if it was up to me to sell the tractor, it would still be in the yard in a year. My brother however buys and sells a far amount on CL, and is a retired cop who won't put up with the scammers. So I made him a deal... I wanted $15,000 in the end, and I thought $16,000 was a fair to high end price. So I asked him to sell it for me and he could keep anything over $15,000 that he could get. I took some pictures for him and wrote down a few details for him, and a week later he had it sold for $16,000. We both walked away happy and the buyer got a great tractor that was well taken care of.

Sold at $3500 more than the dealer offered.
