Ok I cant be the only one that has a question about the shoes on the blade.
I plowed snow yesterday YEAHHHHH,,, but as I pushed snow I saw tons of gravle being dislodged,, ok maybe its just me,, nope a big gouge in the driveway and a heavy scrape mark on the cement.. Upon farther investigation I found that one shoe was worn through to the bar its welded to and thats sticking through the shoe and the other one is real close,,, SO has anyone made new shoes I was thinking a tad bit bigger like maybe a shoe with a upsweep on the attacking end 6 to 8 inches long and maybe 3 inches wide,, or is that an over kill???
Anybody????

Wouldn't be overkill at all. Most shoes for blades are like a circle bowed in the middle with raised edges all around. A straight shoe would work fine also except maybe turning sharp. I would guess they are easy to purchase from snowblade suppliers. They are a must have...

'Round here TSC carries replacement skids/shoes for snow plows. Would be easy enough to add a set to a tractor mounted blade. Have thought about adding them to my blade but kind of prefer the snow-blower. Matter of fact... I limed the front yard today  (first trip over the drive with the blower this year, always gets a little stone that first time, even with the skids).

I'm building a front blade for my L3200. I've decided to use 5" swivel wheels for shoes - they have no tendency to dig or scrape. Only real drawback is they are fixed height, but I should be able to get some adjustment with blade level. I used one on my rear blade last year, and it worked great! Just a thought. I started out with the wheel about an inch lower than the blade, but still picked a lot of gravel. I ended up with about 2", which worked pretty well.
My tractor dealer has heavy duty shoes - about $200/pair! I found that discouraging...

Well Lil Bro gave me my first weldiong lesson today,, I had a 1/4 piece of plate laying inthe barn and he has a metal hole saw the same size as the foot on the skid shoe,, SOOOO some time on the drill press made 2 disks and then he showed me how to weld them on,, so I took my first step at welding...,UGLY welds but he says they will hold,,,so I figure I saved 60 bucks and learned something too:D
