Just picked up the tractor with 2400 hrs, took a chance. worked it for 7 hours bucket and box blade moving dirt and grading. Extremely dirty and hot conditions, service inspection light came on, previous owner kept it serviced. My question should I start with full service on motor, tranny, hydraulics, filters and differential? It’s my opinion a solid tractor. Do most of you orange owners use all Kubota products ?

Except for engine oil, and oil filters, Kubota Dealer is the way to go...

I have tried pricing out Wix versions, and there was only a dollar or two difference...

Oil
Shell Rotella T6 in 0W-40 (cold weather), 5W-40 (moderate), or 15W-40 (hot weather)

Oil filter
Kubota HH164-32430 converts to Fram 7328.
Rock Auto has equivalent COS7328 for $1.33.
Watch the shipping costs, however...

A Fram 8a is twice as long as the Kubota, same base.
I love the Wix 51515...
Watch out, the private label pack of 12 are not as good as the regular ones...

You've used the tractor for seven hours. The previous owner kept it serviced. You could start by asking the previous owner when he last serviced the tractor and what services he performed. Then check the owner's manual to see what is required at 2400 hours. As far as filters go - I'll stick with genuine Kubota. Engine oil is pretty much up to you. I'll use Kubota's hydraulic fluid.

Service inspection light?
I've never heard of that on these models.
Care to elaborate?

Also you're using contradictory and incomplete terms for your tractor model.

What is it exactly?
An L3130?
A, L3130DT, which would be a gear drive?
Or an L3130HST?

Sounds like you need to do the recommended maintenance as described in the user manual. Im not sure if you are asking if you NEED to do ALL the required maintenance. The answer would be yes you should.

I only use OEM Kubota filters, parts and hydraulic oil. I use the recommended grades of name brand engine oil and grease, whatever I can get on sale at the time.

First thought was “Yea, right...”

You have no idea how the previous owner maintained that tractor, unless he is a trusted personal friend.

It would be prudent to change all lubricants and filters. Cost of doing so is likely negligible compared to what you paid for the tractor.

Use the OEM stuff. The cost is not that much different. The “Penny wise pound foolish” expression came about for a reason.

Not sure about your specific tractor, but on my L4240 a service light does come on. When I first saw it I was startled, wondering what the message was for.
It seems to me that indicator comes on every 50 hours. I do not know if you can over ride it! I didn't really care because I had just changed oil and filter.

As others have suggested, unless you bought it from someone you know is honest and trustworthy, I'd change all fluids. Oil, filter, and if it's HST replace those filters and use SUDT2 hyd. oil. Only get your hyd. oil from Kubota. More expensive initially, but you're only buying it every 400 hours.

OK, I went and looked it up. IT'S CALLED SERVICE INSPECT INDICATOR. On the L4330 hst, on the LCD display, when the key is "on" or running ,above the tach, hours indicator, it spells out "service/inspect".

It comes on every 50 hours to remind you of maintenance. To clear it:

1. Turn key on "DO NOT START"
2. Press "MODE" and TRAVEL SPEED buttons at the same time.

You're cleared for another 50 hours!

I would also consider running the overhead (valve clearances). I believe Kubota recommends 1500 hours on the valve adjustment. IMO, unless you are very mechanically adept (and have a shop manual ti reference), I'd have a qualified dealer do the adjustment.

The service light is a service reminder illuminating every 50 hours on the L3130 similar to what D2Cat expressed happens on the GL40's.

Personally I like to go through all the fluids and filters when purchasing used to establish a baseline and to take a closer look at the recent purchase.

Have fun with the new purchase!
